HYFAX Worn in the rear

I put 250 miles on this weekend in Northern Indiana. Lots of riding mainly on country roads along with a share of miles in marginal conditions.

My findings, The hyfax in the rear stops wearing at a certain point.

when they look like they are going to wear through in the rear, that is the stopping point.

My wheel kit from excell will be here in a few days.

Obviously the X wheel is the answer. I called last week and ordered 4 and they were back ordered until this week. I believe the 6 wheel kit replaces the 4 outside idlers and 2 inside at the front. They also have an 8 wheel kit which I believe does all that and adds 2 more on either side of the rear shock inside. Everbody I've talked to that owns a XTX has the same problem either in the toe or near the heal of the hyfax. Most of them all say they just keep throwing wheels under it until it stops. I'm waiting for 4 x-wheels and an extra rear idler to put in a fourth wheel (kit).

Like I mentioned, and as you did, I have a set coming. They said they were on back order for a week.

Ill just wait patiently.

The bonus???? I have a new set of red HYFAX coming for the sled from rich motorsports. I think they are going to really stand out on the sled, especially with the X 6 wheel kit

Is it worth $250 for a new wheel kit?

I have put 1000 + miles on my sled and I can't even say for sure that the slides were brand new when I bought the sled and they still have a lot of life left in them.

I could buy 6 sets of slides for the price of 1 wheel kit.

Well Burgerbone I would say if you don't need em don't order em.. I just hope your measuring them correctly. And if your sled was used when you bought it, perhaps the previous owner did something to correct this matter.

I check them after every ride :).

All that I have done was put the limiter down 1 hole and loosened the track a bit. The only extra wear that I can see is in the middle of the rail and there is still a considerable amount of hyfax there. I guess all the ice buildup and water keep my slides smooth....

My buddies dad has a 800 summit and his hyfax are gone after 800 miles . So i guess if you ride roads and very hard packed then they don't last long if you ride in good snow then they last , just my .02

I have replaced one set since I got mine. I think it came with the original set on, rode it some and replaced them with around 1100 miles or so. I now have over 3000 miles on the new set now and they have stopped wearing but are thin. Those that replaced early, have you checked how much life is left in them by cutting them? I cut the original set I took off and there was still a lot left even though it looks like they are burnt down to nothing.

The Excell 6 wheel kit looks like something I'll purchase, does anybody know of any Promotion codes currently going on at Excell Motorsports?

just gotta take the open end of a 10mm wrench and if u can fit the wrench over the hyfax on the side u gotta replace them. 3900 mi on my originals... def thin tho gettn replaced at end of season unless i ride more than im planning.

Once the sliders wear down to the line, they seem to even out and you can get considerable life out of them, even when they look like they are about shot.

I have 2900 miles on mine and they just keep on going.
