I have an 07 Venture Lite - 2600km (1600 miles).
Had to replace the hyfax slides this week.
I have not rode on icy or hard pack conditions very much this winter, and when I have it was at a slow speed. (last two weekends were crusty and maybe one other weekend the winter.)
Track was not too tight, and the dealer installed 4 extra idler wheels (service bulletin) mid January.
First time I rode on ice there was no problem to smell them wearing. Only went a very short ways on the ice ... stopped and kicked some snow on them.

Yamaha must know there is a problem if they put out the service bulletin.

The track is clipped only every third hole ... this gotta be causing extra wear on the slides.
Simple solution ... CLIP ALL THE HOLES.
Guess clipping every hole would make the sled heavier, possibly turning away sales?

Awyway ... I'm not a big complainer, but considering my old Ski Doo had over 19,000km (12,000 miles) on it before the slides were changed, I figured what the frig is up with this. :o|

Anybody else have worn/replaced slides? How many km (miles)?

man most guys are complaining replacing slide every 300 mles, 1200 is great to me, 1600 would be free ridding. LOL Maxdlx

Yea my thoughts exactly his sliders lasted 12000 miles on his doo but at that time it would be time to redoo the doo engine also. I mean one can pick apart one thing on any sled. Get over it or sell it.

My last ride started to smoke mine on my mtn lite
low sno conditions will cause it quickly, prior to last
ride they were practically new.

It only takes a couple hundred yards(regardless of speed)
to start to wear them quickly.

I think this summer I will fully clip my track to extend the life.

I already have the windows cut out on my 04 mountain I should clip mine also I guess.

Well I know on my 95 XCR I have a fully clipped mtn track on it, and the hyfax are perfect. Granted The track on the xcr is also perfect with over 1000miles on it, still shows the polaris stars. While the track on the mtn lite ~300 miles, is cracking and I'm missing a few lugs.. not so pleased with that.

Same thing on my Mtn Lite, 900 miles, Track is cracking and a few lugs torn off .... hyfax worn pretty badly as well. But still love it. Looks like a good reason to upgrade track .. lol

I agree and have stated this before myself that the hyfax gets thin enough that most heat from it gets sucked away by the aluminum skid rails. They act like a heat sink bringing the wear down to a screeching halt.

proper break in of hyfax can help alot too. You need to get them hot when new and cool them down, repaeat it 2 or 3 times and it actually hardens them. Maxdlx

Thanx for the info maddogjeff - sounds like SLP anti-wear pads are working out for you.

I haven't priced clipping the track yet, but if I did I would have no replacement cost vs the SLP anti-wear pads.

bitchin about hyfax after a season wait till you get to the rest of skid ie shocks idlers broken arms springs tracked machines are high maintenance get out now while your sleds still sorta new cause itll get worse for sure lol

I am not sure how or why, but I rode in worse condition than all of you and got the most out of my hyfax.
I estimate at least 800 miles of NO SNOW. I mean ZERO SNOW.
I changed one side at 3500 miles and the other one is still on at 4200 miles.
I have one pair of low snow wheels installed in the front of the skid frame.
GR. ;)!
