slide replacement
If the slides are real worn i pull them off from the middle with two big screw drivers ,or pry bars. never have to go through the windows to remove takes 5 mins. each. screws should be replaced with new ones ,always carry spares in your sled. new screws should be shortened 2 or 3 threads so that they go all the way in and don't break off. a dealer showed me that and it works. screws must be all the way in or they will break off. good luck

We change lots of sliders on those RX's without any trouble at all, we take the skid out. As mentioned above it's good to check out everything that way. While you have it out pull all of the axials out wipe them clean then re-grease them with your hand and re-install. That grease breaks down durring the summer and bleeds, as to the additives that are added. This will also allow fresh grease to flow to the ends easier this winter.
Use a good carbide tip philips to remove the screws, be sure you have one that fits tight and you will be fine. If you strip it they are a you know what to get out. We have found that those Craftsman easy out for screws work great. You can allways drill it out a tad and put a 1/4 inch bolt with a nylon lock nut if things go bad.
The two screwdrivers and a visegrip work great if you are sure you only want to remove the sliders.
Have fun
