To those that have tried these, what is your opinion? I have an 07 Nytro that I'm trying to improve the ride quality on. If you set the Fox Floats to obtain the proper ride height they are too stiff for general purpose trail riding. Plus the progression is very fast sacrificing travel and ride quality. These Hygear reservoirs sound like the ticket but they are a little on the expensive side. I don't do any ditch banging so I'm only looking for better trail performance.
If any one has tried these or something similar I'd appreciate your insight.
thanks

You mean like these puppys.
They are great so far on my Apex GT as I replaced my GYT's with the Floats and added the reserviors. Now I have no more trail/bump feedback through the bars to my hands and arms.I also had Hygear revalve the rear Ohlins and added their rear dual rate spring kit.
I never rode it with out the reserviors.
The air pressure Ross recommended is 70 lbs and there is a screw on the reserviors with 3 turns of adjustment to valve the air in and out,it came set 1.5 turns out.If its bumpy I can set it at 65,70lbs at 2-3 out and it seems fine.Groomed trails 55-70lbs.70 lbs on groomed trails and the sled does the inside ski lift in tight turns. The reservior is supposed to make the Float more linear through the travel.
For me its been good so far but I'm still playing with it as riding on Tug Hill in NY I have gone all day on groomed trails or from groomed to trashed out muguls in a matter of hours or miles so what feels good one mile is not the next sometimes.Everything is adjustable for personal preference and Ross at Hygear said they are even softening the valving in the Floats sometimes.
Better trail performance with the reserviors? Mabey a little. You can keep the pressure up and have some ride height and still have it a bit softer at the same time.I was just looking for an improved ride over what I had and was not looking to make my GT into a crosscountry/snowcross sled.
Lowering a stock Floats air pressure makes the sled lower -corners better but takes away some travel for when its bumpy.

I've been wondering the same thing about the Hygear upgrade, and have been thinking about this for my '06 Nytro.
Thanks for the report on the float air rezis! .... Has anyone done the dual-rate spring upgrade to the ProActive skid? Any reports on it's performance?

Yup same thoughts,if i keep this 07 rtx it will be only because ross can come up with something much better than what it has to offer right now,its funny that you put on the fox floats when you already had the shock ross reccomends for the best handling,as i have floats on and he recommends getting the gyts that your apexgt came with and upgrading it with dule rate springs and his valving, for better compliance thru the turns and bumps, how did ross keep you talked into taking off your gyts and replacing them with the fox floats??Yammi182?? But i am glad you did this mod to your sled, can you keep me in the loop as far as the floats go,because this is what i want to do to mine, plus the complete package for the shocks in the raer skid,so how much better is your rear mono know that ross has done up the coilover??

The rear suspension on the 06 GT was less than great for anything other than a groomed trail so I revalved and went with a dual rate spring kit as others have done it (not necessarily Hygears)and liked the improved ride of a dual rate spring.
Rear is much better and if it does bottom its not harsh.I have yet to get a bone jarring hit and I even softened the rear a bit from what Hygear had it set at.
I bought the Floats BEFORE I spoke with anyone at Hygear.I rode a friends 06 RTX last year and felt the ride was better when compared to how the GYT's were on my GT at that time.
The ride was out to lunch probably because the rear Ohlins valving and spring were not working together with the front GYT's.The front was better but I couldn't adjust the poor ride so I felt the whole ride sucked(both front and rear).
If I knew that the ride of the GYT's could be improved I would have upgraded them instead and mabey saved some $.
I now have a heavy 06 GT that does not crash down hard in the bumps anymore. The adjustability on the bar is much better now for the ele Ohlins after the revalve.
The front does not bottom hard anymore with the Floats and there is very little to no feedback and trail chatter through the bars like I felt before with the GYT's.
Hygear sold me nothing.Talked me into nothing.
A friend recommended dual rate springs and Hygear is close and has them.So...No brainer..
Rode a friends RTX liked the Floats on it then bought some Floats cheap.
06 Ohlins shock needs a revalve so as Hygear was close why not have them put on the dualrate spring kit while they had it.Again a no brainer..(they wanted the shock sent to them anyway to install the springs themselves).
Floats are fine for groomed trail in the morning and moguls in the afternoon.
Air chambers allow more linear progression rather than having it ramp up quick and become harsh.
--Didn't get any setup instructions when they sent the shocks back so I called Hygear and talked to Ross for over 20 mins and he did confirm what I mentioned to him about the front and rear stock setup not working together that great on my GT before.
Ross took the time and explained to me the setup and adjustments for what I had.
What did I get?
Just a much improved overall ride than what I had before. No complaints so far.
Is my sled now a huge mogul masher? No, never was and never will be.

YAM182, thanks for your comments. I get lots of feedback through the bars too with the stock Floats. Too bad you didn't get a chance to ride it before and after the reservoirs were installed. I'd be very interested in the results. Do you find that lower the pressure lessens the inside ski lift?

62crusr - what air pressure do you run in your shocks? (measuring with the skis off the ground) - I have found that when running at the factory set 70psi setting the front end will give you some feedback over the smaller bumps but after lowering the shocks to 55psi that feedback seems to go away. Even with the shocks set to 55psi they still seem to be bottomless over the big bumps. Also with the lower pressure the front of the sled will sit lower - lowering the center of gravity and resulting in flatter cornering.

What Kevin said ^
The reserviors are supposed to let you run a bit higher pressure and maintain some travel but be a little softer.Lower is better for groomed trail.
Air in or air out and a turn of a screw is faster than turning GYT spring adjusters.
I will have to play more with the adjustments when I get out alone next time probably next December.
