Words of advise. Yamaha users that go to the other forums like SkiDoo Talk and HCS and trash talk other brands. Expects retaliation on Totallyamaha. Lets keep a level head on others sites and that will help us keep the riff raff out of this site. I know you cant stop some of the Yamaha owners that have not found TY from trash talking on other forums but you could try to pull those riders over to the best Yamaha site on the web.

Please reports any abuse or rule breaking to the Admin or Moderators and we will handle what we can on our end.

Thanks
Tom

If we're talking about the Apex/Attak line, Its all about the rider and his preferred style of riding. If your a person who actually likes catching big air (I'm talking the track 10 feet in the air and landing 30 or 40 feet from where you took off) then something like the Phazer, REV or a new Polaris Dragon is the sled for that guy. If you don't ride like that, then the balance of the Apex/Attak makes it hard to feel the extra pounds. JMO.

On a side note My buddy bought a Dragon this year and I got a chance to ride it last weekend. My thoughts are, its one hell of a nice machine. I thought it might be the smoothest twin I've ever felt. I thought it rode great, made great power and it handled great. And I thought if Yamaha didnt' make a sled like My Attak I might buy one.

My point is this. Just like the guys who complain about Yamaha's being heavy there is alot of people who think Polaris is light years behind on thier snowmobile line. I say that's BS also. I think that Dragon is a better sled than the REVs I've rode. Everybody's opinion is different.

I've been stuck myself, but I have seen them all get stuck and need help. If someone is going to make comments like "big fat pig" just even it up to same size displacement sleds. I take great pride in running Yamaha and would have thought being on a Yamaha talk forum would see the same. Maybe it is too much sled for some, being 6' 235lbs I find it perfect. There are smalling and lighter models. :yam:
Easy does 'er bleed. I can lift my Attak as well, but I arm curled the back end of a crossfire 1000 at the dealer yesterday. It definitely felt lighter. Hey dude, it is what it is...Heavy, fast and fragile. :ORC Sounds like you and your Yamaha just came back from marriage counselling. :jump:

Heavy, fast and fragile i not sure there that heavy... looking at the specs my 07 RTX is only slighty heavier than machz and lighter then f1000,

fragile ??? i hit a ditch and broke my back/elbow and dislocated my shoulder.... the machine bent the tunnel thats it..considering it barrel rolled (don't know how many times.) but its in fine shape all things considering... i can't imagine anymachine fairing any better/worse !!

my 2 cents worth anyhow

cheers

From the first 5 minutes on my RX1ER, sure enough I head into a narrow ditch to get back into the yard at a right angle to the road. But not really that steep, and at a stand still the track found ice covered debris under the snow.

It wasn't going anywhere without studs.
Really glad it has reverse to change direction.
I'm convinced the track systems with rails is the fault.
It leaves so little of the track to grab on what ever it's sitting on.
With all things flat, it's all fine.

Even tanks roll smoother over objects with bogie system.

Many moons ago one night, and riding side by side, a track system of just floating bogie wheels saved my butt in the middle of the lake from a spring break out where I dropped into open water.
Ice is a foot thick.

In .5 a second, positioned myself on the hood reaching back holding it wide open throttle, and getting ready to jump off with feet on the bumper.

My partner is waiting for me to make it across as the rear of sled is slowly going under. We were only going about 30 at the time.

It's standing vertical almost ready to go under as it bumped into the edge of the ice.
And no studs. I had no idea it was going to climb out.
It took a while to walk normal again.

Ok I do not really understand all of this bashing other peoples sled stuff, but I am new to the sport so I may start doing it as well.

I do know that when I went shopping for a sled in December I took two knowledgeable guys with me, one owned a RX-1 and the other a MXZ Renegade(my brother-in-law). I bought my '06 Attak based on their recommendation, the owner of the RX-1 ended up buying a '07 Attak GT the same day.

My first trip to Quebec I was getting beaten on the lake at Cabanon pretty bad, of course it was brand new and not broken in yet and I did not have studs on.

Different story this past weekend at Real Masse, my Attak now has 162 studs and is past the 300 mile mark. My Attak ate up my brother-in-law's '06 MXZ Renegade 1000, without electric start. BTW he has been riding for years, I have been riding for two weekends. I busted him for a few minutes but I shut up because he really can ride circles around me on the trails. Plus I did not buy this sled to drag on a lake, I bought it to ride trails and so far I love it. 150HP and some extra pounds is fine by me, it beat a lighter Renegade that has 20 more HP. BTW, I think my brother-in-law's Renegade is a nice sled as well.

Of course having bragging rights in the truck on the way home helps a little bit and I am getting better on the trails as well. This machine is a thing of beauty and it rides like my Cadillac SLS.

Happy riding, I am really enjoying this hobby so far.
