THe mach Z has 20 more HP.. but doesnt perform like one..
My buddy beat a MAch Z last year with his Bone STock ZR900..
Its funny how people on HCS argued that the F1000 was 500lbs but now MAX SLED has proven that the new cats are much heavier than the old F series sleds.. (im sure to reduce warranty issues)
One of the guys I ride with has an 05 MX Z 800 HO Power TEK. I've watched him line up with his brother's 06 Apex ER and another 06 Apex ER in the group several times and they are always neck and neck.
According to Maximum Sled, the MX Z is 576.5 lbs and the Apex ER is 647.5 lbs. That's a 71 lb difference.
Now if you compare smoke, smell, vibration, sound quality, rider position, comfort (for me), expected engine life, etc. I'd much rather be on the Apex. The Apex is heavier though.
For those that argue the MX Z's always blow up, this one has almost 10,000 miles on it and it has been in the shop less than his brothers Apex (mainly because of idler wheels). I'm sure it could use new pistons and rings but it's still going strong (for now).

Allen ulmer had a post recently about all the new sleds..
He has raced the Mach and the F1000 and the new F8 and the Powertech 800..
He said the only sleds that could beat the apex were the mach and the F1000.. and the Doo 800 was actually the slowest of the bunch..
all sleds were with mods and clutching

All the sleds I ride with and mentioned above are 100% stock.
BTW, I'm done with this discussion. At least we both agree Apex's are the sleds to be riding - if only we had snow!!!

If the sleds were stock, properly tuned and traction was very good the Mach should be faster (and is from what I've heard) than an Apex.
A friend of mine owns both a Mach Z and an Apex RTX. He says both sleds are a blast and he hasn't had any trouble with either of them. He has lined them up and he says the Mach cleans the Apex every time. Both are 100% stock.
When we go riding together he always (so far) has taken the Apex. We always do high mileage, long days and I guess he just enjoys riding the Apex more.
well i saw a machz last week-end that had so much power that it couldn't get the hook up and was got blown away every race, then he blew a belt and the remainder of the time i saw it with the hood was open, i really haven't seen a machz blow away thing away except belts, i'll take my heavier attak everyday over all of them at least i know i can get good top speed and trail reliability and it will make it home

My wife is heavier than average too, but she is still more fun to ride than a lot of lighter models...

I lined up against a mach z last year. He could get me off the line and keep pulling away, at about 1/2 mile he had about 10-12 lengths on me. My ER was completally stock ,unstudded, and had only about 300 miles on it. It isn't quite stock now, motor is broken in, and is studded, I will be riding with the same guy next month, will have to see how the ER matches up to his sled then.

Snow is here
Just got done with the radar gun..... Stock 07 Mach, 88mph in 600'. 05 MXZ800 (goodwin clutch kit), 75mph in 600'. 06 RTX (goodwin clutch kit)78mph in 600'. These are my own personal results. All 3 were studded with 1.25" track. No big shocks here. Happy trails!

Ride all the time with two ski poo buddies. 800ho and the 1000 renegade. 800 has 3500km on it and no real big issues. Had to toe him back his first ride with 12km on it. Shut it off and it wouldn't start so he pulled so much he recked the recoil. He has done the recoil 4 times in it now but that is all. Other buddy with 1000 has had nothing but problems and he can't beat either of my sleds and he is honest with him self though and admits it. He is going to be another yammi boy soon. Watches us turn key and ride with no issues while hes endlessly going for warranty work. And to boot there ugly
Oh ya and its heavy too :ORC

Lots of people make comments about The weight ...................... with 310 horsepower and a 162 X16 track , I am having a banner year in Alaska laughing at the 2 strokers that get stuck with their lack of power , we rode saturday , and the powder was neck deep it was the funnest trip ever ! Here's an example !
( I did get stuck once when I accidentally hit the kill switch!) They were glad to help me though because I spent the better part of my day helping them.
