Here is what i have done so far 165 jets k&N Filters and turned all of the fuel screws out 21/2 turns. Went for first ride to day and it ran quite well until about 3/4 throttle then it fell on its face sputtering and cutting out. then I was boon docking and tipped it on its side and all it would do was just idle. I had to wait several min. and hold the throttle at about 1/2 then it ran for a while, Then I shut it off on the trail and could not get it to start, so then i took the filters off and it started and I put them back on and it seem to run ok up to 3/4 throttle, got back to truck and shut it off and it would not start again, as soon as I pulled the filters off it would start, I thought maybe that they were wet but as I looked at them they seemed fine. My elevation that I was riding in is about 8 to 9 thousand feet. When I got home I jacked up the back and gave it all the gas for just a second and it would hit 10000rpm then drop to 9000 not sure where it should be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried you fuel screws at 2 turns out ?? Did you set up the carbs with a manometer ? Just a thought. Good luck.

I just screwed them out the 2 1/2 turns. I will try 2 turns. could I be jetted to much also, what do you think about a 155 main jet
I don't think so, I have the same size jets 165's and 2 turns out synced the carbs and she runs great. You could also try 2 1/4 turns out.

Put a new set of plugs in and set gaps to .7 to .8 mm ,also check your pilot jets and clean them.

The main jet regulates the fuel flow at 3/4 to wide open throttle. You may be to fat at that elevation. The screws regulate 0-1/4 throttle and the needle jets 1/4-3/4 throttle. Take a look at your plugs. They will usually tell you what you need. Have you checked your floats to make sure they are at the right height. Here is a link to a manual. Go to page 8-7 for carburation.

If you need more I can paste the service manual link! Good luck.

Your too fat for your elevation. Drop the mains to at least 155 and turn your fuel screws to 2. Also what are you running for carb springs? You should have a minimum of silver, but for your elevation you might want to try blue springs.

I have not changed the springs. I just bought it and it was totaly stock. Where do I buy the springs? I did ride it stock a week ago and it ran fine it just didn't run like other rx1s that I had rode before. Thanks again for all of your help

Cnaser if you can find a dealer in Utah to get the parts free, let me know cuz I've had no luck with 3 of them.

You have to syncronize your carbs first and foremost with a good quality manometer!

These guys are right.
1. Change to Silver or Blue carb springs from Holtzman engineering (I run red springs at 3-6,000 feet)
2. Drop your mains to 155 ( I run 160 mains at 3-6,000 feet)
3. Clean your pilot jets (just because)
4. Airscrews to 2.0
Synch your carbs after all the changes are made
You may want to build an EVAC kit for your ECP filters. Do a search on here. If you tip it on it's side without it the oil from the crankcase can go directly into your carbs. It happened to me and miine ran like you described. I still have oil soaked area on my hood foam.
Good luck
