I agree with everyone here but, Is it possible that the carbs are dry and never got primed after they ran out of fuel? These sleds take alot to get the carbs filled back up after being run dry.

Wiff of starting fluid will take care of that! Pop off lid, open throttle and quick wiff of ether....will pop to life carbs out of fuel!

Think you could also pour a little fuel down the vent lines for the carbs to give them an initial prime.

I had the same issue this summer with my RX1. I always store with stable and seafoam and never seen fuel issues like this year. I cleaned 3 times to get all right again. Carb syn is required if you completelt remove unplug .... carbs from sled. I still need to do mine but she runs decent as is for now. I am thinking of buying my own SYN tool. anyway, do a search or check tech section on Carb cleaning and syn. I too like to do all my own work, especially since the closest good Yamaha dealer is about 2 hours away. Good luck

ok guys so i did the carb clean i never removed and of the jets i just sprayed lots of carb cleaner and air through them. so the sled runs now but i feel it still runs a bit rough is there anything else i should do. i feel it idles lower now and the primary makes so much more noise it idles at 1000rpm. and it feels like its running uneven. also the throtle response sucks.

Big mistake who told you not to remove the jets. You must remove the jets and clean everything and make sure you can see light through them and blow air through them as well. You must also spray carb cleaner through every orifice in the carb you can see. You might as well start over and do it right.

livinloud, please take the time to update your location in your profile.
You really should have bare minimum removed the pilot jets. Most of the guys here don't make this stuff up out of thin air. If you're not comfortable with removing the jets, find somebody who is or take it to a dealer. You can try a set of plugs at this point but I'm not holding my breath that plugs will fix it......

profile has been updated, i am comfortable removing the jets. so all i have to do is unscrew them and spray the carb cleaner through the peice i take out. it seemed to me this was unnesessary since when i would spray the carb claner through the jet while it was still attached to the carb it did a good enough job cleaning the passage.

You are assuming wrong my friend the pilots are still plugged or partially plugged. What we are saying is since your right there you might as well take them all out and double insure they are all clean and that you can see the light through them especially the pilots as the hole is very small. I had to use a very thin needle some cotton swabs and compressed air to get mine clean.

i cant believe i am bringing this up again sorry guys. so i took the rack off agaoin and removed the jets cleaned them with a needle and carb cleaner this time so they were super clean. now ,my problem is that it idles at 900 and the throtle response sucks if i hit the gas a bit too much it sputters and chokes and then revs. what else could be wrong fuel filter? sprak plugs?

If you can, fish out your fuel filter with a long wire, like a brazing rod or somthing, chec/replace. Check or replace your plugs if you haven't looked at them in a year. That would be just cheap general maintenance to start with.Shine a flashlight in your tank, any frogs or fish living in there? Then syphon out the old fuel, could be water and crap in there.
Make sure all the jets are clean, and passages. Don't use an impact gun to tighten the jets in again,or any other uncalled for procedures! I would never use a wire/metal anything in a jet or passageway!( I know, too late but it should be ok, just remember is all) It can scratch/score the inner brass surface, not good!I've heard of guys using a welding torch tip cleaner, stupid! Always use a hard plastic, like a bristle off a shop/paint brush or somthing.
Is it actually idling and then dieing when warmed up?Make sure your chokes are being shut all the way, not leaking by. Boots are secure to carbs, caps are firmly screwd down?
In any event, you can safely stor an engine at the end of the year with 100LL av gas. Just put it in the tank (remove the old gas), prefer filled up and run it 10 minutes and leave it until next fall, that easy. Av fuel can sit for over a year without anything in it (and don't put anything in it either, stabil etc) and not go bad or hold water, no issues, no worries.Drain it out the following fall if you don;t feel comfortable runing a full tank of it.

Make sue your carbs are in the boots correctly and that the air box is on the carbs correctly if you are running it with the air box off it is going to run like poop. You can set the idle with a flat screw driver the idle screw is right on top in the middle of the carbs. lastly I have never screwed up a jet by using a needle, tooth pick and cotton swabs to clean carb jets as long as your gentle you wont hurt anything. When you tried it was your air box on and on properly? If not that is probably your problem.

Sounds like alot of you are having problems at start up, are you using the marine grade addatives and are you useing the propper doses. I put K100 in all of my sleds and never have these issues at start up. Is anyone useing K100 and having problems. I fill tanks at the end of the season add K100 then drain tank and put fresh gas at start up. I also put a bottle of carb and injector cleaner every three weeks with a full tank.
06 Vector,06 Attak, 2000 V-Max, 96 V-Max I have two stroke four stroke carbs and injection.
Am I just getting lucky or does this stuff realy work?
