I think I saw you near burks falls! I have an 08 f1000 night fire and am thinking of switching, what are your thoughts? I do like the f1000 but am a yammieguy at heart
We would have been heading that way Wednesday around noon/afternoon. We stayed in Huntsville and then took the D102B to D101B and then quickly stopped in Kearney to get some gas. I was running black Yamaha saddle bags if you can remember. We then headed into south river and took club trails up to north bay since someone told us the D trail was trashed at that point. It was probably the best conditions I have ever rode on a trip. We hit groomed trails 90% of the time.
Yep seen you, we were sitting at one spot and you guys pulled up to check your maps, I have a black f1000 nightfire. For that area would you recommend the nytro over an apex?
Oh ok I remember now haha small world eh! Where were you guys heading?
I have never rode anything other than an apex and a nytro, but I personally like the nytro. I come from a motocross background and the nytro has a better seating position for me. Your knees are at a very nice angle, and I have a bad back and knees so it helps alot. My two buddies with apexes were complaining about their knees getting stiff near the end of our trip. They even said that day how flat and fast I was able to go around the corners and they couldn't keep up since they were lifting a ski. I give all that credit to the new tuner ski's I just put on before the trip. They work awesome on the nytro. A little body language goes a long way too.
However, for fun we switched up sleds on the last day and my nytro has very heavy steering compared to the apex. With the apex, it was almost like there was no ski pressure, yet it still turned fine. However, I do not like the flat turning on the apex anymore, this may be weird since most people don't like the sweep of the nytro, but I love it....and that's why I don't have a OFT re-locator. Overall both sleds would be great up there with the wide fast trails. I love the torque of the nytro, but definitely have a hard time keeping up on lakes, but don't care
See if you can go to the dealers and test ride each one, they are two TOTALLY different sleds.
