Was out for a good run today and was riding on a somewhat bumpy trail...I adjusted the monoshock via the dial on the tunnel...seemed ok then I started to get a slapping sound in the skid...I thought that I may have busted a suspension arm nothing to see...Then I noticed that the suspension when compressed rebounded very easy..The sound I was hearing was the shock snapping back to full length....Thjere is no sign of oil leaking...(is the oil colored) ..I replaced the damn cable end of last winter..it has 200 kms on it...What you think I got busted...seals in shock or the cable end twisted off...
My mono used to snap on rebound, but I've made changes over the summer and haven't heard it too much this year.
I'm thinking its just rebounding...
FYI, when ordering a new RA cable: Royal Distributing ($35) vs. Yamaha ($102).

Is it the transfer rod. It can get pretty noisey on a rough trail. Knocking noise.

I can stand on the running boards and bounce up and down and it seems like the is very little shock resistance...fells like it is all spring...

That sounds like a shock issue then. Anyone around here do shocks that you know of.

Re: shock
Is your front end raised? It will do that if you front end is on dollies and your track is on the ground.

Sounds like a rebuild is in order.
From what your describing, it sounds like the shock has lost all charge/oil and it is just bouncing(pogoing) due to the spring?
Lots of shock rebuilders around and shouldn't be any more than $100-$200 tops depending on how far you want to take the rebuild?(revalving etc while it's out)

I was out in the garage..Checked shock cable..it is turning I can see it in the housing, and feel it clicking at the shock end..Can I removel shock without pulling skid? or is it easier to just pull the skid?????

Just remove one bolt on the transfer rod, support the back of the sled, then remove the shock. U may have 2 lift the back a little.

boinger
Ok so i took the shock out...brought it to my buddies garage and I took it apart..With the bare shock and no spring..if I turn the cable adjuster to full soft I can squat it down and it opens up at the same rate as I could squat it down...if I twist the cable adjuster all the other way and squat the shock down...it will just barely want to open it moves but so slow ..would take probably 30 seconds to open full...So who thinks my shock is f#*!*.....

Re: boinger
Sounds like it is reacting the way it is suppose to imo.
Is your suspension jamming up anywhere?
