Ice Build Up Thought?

Just wondering if anyone has thought about carving up a crazy carpet and riveting (fab) it to the rear portion of the tunnel. Maybe it would just slide right off? Thoughts?

Couple years back I stuck polycarbonate sheeting all under the tunnel.
Down the rails of the tunnel protectors etc.
This is the sheeting that is used to cover over flat key pads etc.
All professionally trimmed to fit.
It did not completely solve the issue, but it did not hurt..
In fact I'd go as far to say I've seen about %40 less snow build up and some conditions were great. I'm glad I did it.

Ice build up is bad. First year with an ext tunnel and hit a good jump the other day and when i landed the ice broke off and went up and jammed between the rad and drivers. Thought my chaincase had ripped off the side or somrthinf. What a fright lol. It was jammed up there to. By the end of it stuck er in reverse and it eventually came out.

I added an aluminum sheet over the tunnel protectors. If you're running studs you should attach strips of old hyfax over the aluminum sheet and inline with the tunnel protectors.

That's what I'm running also! Thanks again Arteex. That design works awesome!!

tunnel ice up fixed! I installed the SB tunnel closer and painted Between the Lines ice-free coating in tunnel area. After the test ride the ice did not stick to the coating at all!!

I saw that stuff, really wanted to try it but it ain't cheap....comes in a spray bomb doesn't it? Is there any prep work other an making sure the surface is clean?

does your design work on the xtx? is it the same as the one for the 121?

It's on my XTX. It doesn't apply to the MTX because it doesn't have tunnel protectors. The fix was about $25.00 from a local fab shop to cut and bend the sheet and about 2 hours of time. Just dropped the rear of the skid and drilled into the protectors after clamping the block off panel to them and riveted it in. No more Baby Hueys hanging on!!

Did you run the full length? How did you attach it? Rivets? Digit also help with the tail light snow build up?

The sheet runs up the the middle supports for the tunnel protector rails. It leaves the header section of the exhaust open for cooling. Also, there is a 1/2" gap between the turned up edges and the underside of the tunnel.

Rkeener,
You made reference to sb tunnel closure. Can you describe what that is or point me in the right direction.
I googled them and came up with nothing.
Do they make a pre fab closure for a 121 nytro tunnel?
thanks
MS
