My sled is at the dealership Because of cold start issues. They are saying the idle air control valve is not operating correctly. They can try to clean it or I have to replace the whole throttle body to the tune of around $1100. They say that is the only way to purchase an idle air control valve. They are saying you can’t purchase it separate, they aren’t showing a part number. Anybody know this for a fact? Any other thoughts?

Sorry don't know if they can be separated. I do remember hearing they can be blown out/cleaned. Have you called Barn of Parts to see if they have a used throttle body? Also just checking on Ebay there is a used one from a 2015 Viper for $165USD.

I’m leaning towards the try to have them clean it. Unfortunately I’m at work, so I don’t have much time right now to do much research.
I can’t believe one can’t be bought separate.

I will guarantee it’s the same IAC Valve that is used in the automobile industry. It looks like a Mitsubishi IAC.
Either way it’s total BS, They do this on purpose so when the vehicle starts having issues, the repair work is so expensive it forces you to buy a new vehicle.

The old Yamaha parts availability and quality is gone forever! Now they’re just like all the other companies if not worse!
If you’re listening Yamaha, I’m done with you. You’re no better than all the rest!
My brand loyalty is gone Until you bring back the old Yamaha with decent manuals and Quality products. Might as well buy arctic cat because they’re exactly the same but cheaper!
PS The viper and Sidewinder manuals you have put out are the worst Yamaha shop manuals ever! What a joke, 1/3 the size and information of the nytro manual!
Thanks!

It's not just there snowmobile division I had the same problem with my YXZ this past summer luckly it got covered under warranty or i would of been droping some coin on a new set of throttle bodies. I hate to say it but you can't buy anything decent anymore in this day and age. It doesn't stop people from buying the stuff tho, was out for my first ride of the year this last weekend and 90% of the machine's i saw were new and say what ya want about Cat but I was very surprised on how many new ones that were out there.

Well, I have a call into Yamaha customer care. I currently have a sled that the idle air control is not functioning. I can either buy a throttle body, or continue starting sled with a little throttle. It’s like starting a carburetor without a choke.
I’m hoping maybe Yamaha can get me just the IAC. Not going to hold my breath.
Dealer mechanic said that the IAC gets so hot, he can’t hold onto it, in about 15 seconds
best part.... we have 2 sleds with this problem.
Crap
