Thinking of replacing the plastic idler wheels with the rubber idler wheels.

Question--Are the 2003 RX-1 idler wheels the same size to fit the the 2005 RX-1???

If not do you have a replacement number.

Interested in the cost also.

I would wait for a bit yet I believe the 06 Mono-shock skids will have a new rubber coated wheel that would be a direct bolt on to the 05 skid. The 03 style wheels have a different bearing and would require a little more work to install.

There is a Yamaha that uses the same size bearing and idler wheel because I lost a wheel and the dealer that I stopped at did not have the replacement, so they took one off another machine, but not an RX-1.

The idler wheel you most likely got would be the style that was used on the 03 RX-1 and most any 98-04 Yamaha. That wheel (with the spacers removed) has the same size bearing inner diameter as the 05 style but has a wider bearing. It will bolt on but there has been some concern when running it in the middle position between the rails that it runs real close to the drive lugs due to the wider bearing. Those wheels retail for $19.95 and are part number 8CR-4731A-00-00.

Thanks for the info Port. I am going to wait to see what Yamaha comes up with first before ordering those wheels. ;)!

I think Yamaha has got a new style (spoked) wheel coming out as an accessory that will work on the mono-skids for people looking to replace there stock style wheels. The small ones retail for $21.95 and the larger ones for $29.95 both with bearings included. I just saw these on the Yamaha website and haven't seen them myself. Here's a link

Yeah that link is not quite right yet. Those will come in two sizes - one for the rear (178mm) and one for the smaller (130mm) size.

To my knowledge only the second link will work in all 6 positions with zero issues. The one with the SMA-8FP38-01 part number. The first link style will work in the outer (4) postions with the use of the longer bolt due to the bearing being wider. When used in the middle (2) positions there have been some issues with the offset of the wheel being different due to the wider bearing. They may work but they definitely cause the wheel to run extremely close to the drive lugs on the track.

Kevin, I am going on the assumption that the bearing can be changed in the spoked wheels. Do you think that is true? By the way, I AM going to buy a bunch of wheels from you guys, just so you don't think I am yanking your chain to get information and then buying them somewhere else. I will also be buying all of the plastic bushings in the '05 monoshock RA skid from you. I am just getting my list together so I can call it all in to you at once. Will these same wheels fit that Vector skid from last year?

I believe the bearings will be replaceable on those spoked wheels and they will also fit on the 05 Vector skid. If you look real close on the picture they show you can see the snapring that would hold the bearing in - so I fully believe this is how they will be when they come in. As of right now they are still on backorder but should be out soon. Give me a call when you get your list together and hopefully we will have some wheels by then.

Those wheels in your link should work on an 05 Rage in all positions on your sled with no modifications needed.
