Please do us all a favor and call in your technical problems to the above number and have them noted on your account. I just took my FX in for the 500 mile oil change with a list of problems that I would like addressed. The dealership is going to bat and getting shut down by Yamaha because there is nothing "on file".

Here are the problems I am encountering plus some others. It's going thru the dealer process with the regional rep as well as me calling the technical center:

1. Overheating - It has happened on marginal conditions around 40's and also with great conditions @ speeds above 60-65mph. A capacity cooling issue, Yamaha Factory Technical support states they have nothing documented other than possible icing from powder riding on the front cooler.

2. #18 guide/idlers - first factory set blew out @ 100 miles, the Apex midseason replacements faired no better tweaked a 100 miles later. Yamaha Factory Technical support states "we do not recommend studded tracks". Who else has tweaked the #18's without a studded track?

3. Icing on the boards - Not from powder riding, general acceptable trail riding. The regional Yamaha representative told the dealership that they offer the side skirts and that should help. I'm not purchasing these, the fix should come from the Factory IMO as a recall. The ice build up is dangerous.

4. Slidders - toasted @ 300 miles...the dealership tensioned the track per Yamaha specification. A mixture of marginal and acceptable conditions.

I guess what I'm getting @ is, if you are experience a technical problem with the sled...please take it to the dealership and then call Yamaha Technical. I really enjoy this sled on the trail, but I'm getting a bad taste for Yamaha from what I'm being feed. These are real issues I am continually encountering and will not continue to if they are not addressed and corrected.

I'd purchase another Phazer tomorrow, if they fixed what little problems they are having today. If not, I'm heading back over to the other importer... :ORC

Here is my icing problem...Yamaha if your reading here is a picture for that file. Not powder riding, about 45-50 miles into the ride this weekend coming off the old railroad bed.

Also having the gear engagement issue...Yamaha has been seeing people shim the clutch but no official recommendation from the factory.

My dealer agrees that reporting issue to him and Yamaha directly is better than just reporting it to one or the other.

From my understanding you have to use the dealer channel as well as call into the Technical Center. Maybe they should get a subscription to TY, seems they don't have any documented issues.

BTW the dealer called, sled is ready...Yamaha will do nothing for any of my issues. To add salt to the wound, $100+ for the oil change. Think I am getting out, 2007 Phazer FX with 450 miles for sale soon....needs #18 idlers.

Have any of you guys just had a phazer just die on you for no reason? I've seen it twice now where it just goes down the trail happily and all of the sudden it dies as if the kill switch was hit and it takes a bit to restart it.

Quick update... :o|

On the #18 idler/guides, Yamaha toted the company line regarding studs...strange they have no proof that studs indeed in testing caused this issue. The dealership said they ate the first one and couldn't help this time. So, I purchased some '03 Viper 700 boogies to fix the problem.

Overheat, Yamaha claims that they are unaware of issues other than the front cooler being clogged with ice. Suggested to document the next occurance and bring back to the dealer.

Gear engagement, never addressed by Yamaha...the dealership said this is normal and that they see this with motorcycles all the time. There position is that there is no problem, just rock the machine.

Slidders @ 300 miles under Yamaha track tension specification. Well they played the low snow theory, surprised that they didn't want to see them...only the front section worn off.

Icinig on the footwells, Yamaha is providing free of cost a set of panels and installation. They believe that these will solve the problem, that I should take them as they are "free". I'll reserve my comment until after installation next week.

I can not stress enough, call Yamaha after you have dropped off the unit to the dealership. This will only help Yamaha to remedy the situations that we are encountering in the field.
