I have used hiperfax on my sleds in the past because I wanted to maximize the available speed on my sleds.
The last time around I didn't buy the Hiperfax (I had too many other goodies to buy) and bought the Yamaha graphite (I can't remember their name) high performance slides.
You know what? I haven't noticed any difference I can see in wear or feel in performance.
What have you found or heard regarding the use of Hiperfax? In your opinion, are they worth the extra $100+ over other slides?

Thanks I'll order them here I guess.
I'm using 15 mm now, is going to the 14.5 mm worth the trouble?
Did I hijack my own post?

If your using aftermarket weights just adding mass to the initial launch will overcome the larger rollers.

Frostbite, I purchased the graphite hyfax a couple of seasons ago and didn't notice any difference in wear. Only difference was in my wallet.

That's kind of what I thought about the hifax. I have drilled holes in the bottom of my hifax to hold snow/ice (years ago). Is this still a good idea? It seems I've read they actually sell them with the holes now?
Now on to the subtopic.
Turk, I have 1/4 and a 3'4" Allen bolts the heel of my heavy hitters. They work well. Would going to the 14.5 mm improve my bottom end even more? What abou the midrange and top end?

Article in SnowTech on this subject two seasons ago. They said it improves hyfax wear, but should only be done by the mountain guys due to dirt getting into the holes and causing damage to the rails. They specifically warned people riding the U.P. to not drill the holes.Frostbite said:That's kind of what I thought about the hifax. Hey, that's me!
I'm a mountain guy unfortunately bound to the trail a lot of the time in my area by thick tree cover. The snow in my area is typically rock and sand free so the holes may work for my application. I don't think I'll pull off my hifax to drill the holes but my next set may see some holes.
Thanks

I haved drilled holes in my hyfax for years and ride mostly in the UP and never seen rail wear issues.

You could always just drill in indentations and not actually drill all the way throught the hyfax and that would do a similar thing creating a resevoir for snow and water to sit and keep the whole set-up much cooler and not expose the rails.
