How much time should or will it be for a dealer to install reverse ?

Took my sled in and they said they charge actual time spent . I just wanted to know how much time it should take them

Thanks
Ger

I am no dealer but an average wrench ...I just put one on today in 2 hours...they are really easy. Go to the Tech Section on TY.com and you will find the install info there.

Later

I hate to assume but should a dealer be doing this faster . I can handle 2 hrs labour but not the 3 that they said it might take

if it take them 3 hours, they are milking it....Go see for yourself .....read the instruction....why dont you just buy the kit and put it on yourself...we are here to help :D

I should of and would of if I went to TY first. I don't have enough time to stay up to date on all the sites I like to check .This one is the only daily one I make it too.

Plus the dealer gave me a deal when I got my sled . I got the reverse for cost plus install. not saying they will F**^ me but I just like to know before I go back to get it.
I took it in today and by the time I was home there was a call saying it was done.

P.S thanks for the great site. I wish everyone had access to a site like this for everything.

Thanks for the kind words and I am sure everthing will be fine, if they try to charge you more, just remember how long it took me :)

I just put one in last night on a v max 700 took about 2 hrs and then about 15 min to adj the linkage and add oil. iv'e done this about 5 times only. So i figure the Dealer shouls take 2 hours comp, so i would hope.

I have always felt that the dealers in my area were ripping people off, and this thread proves it.
I called three dealers and they quoted me $260-$290 for labor only. They all said it was an extremely difficult job taking 5-8 hours to complete.
I asked if they would give any type of price break since I have two kits to install. All three dealers said no.
After studying the install in the TY tech section, some info Convert sent me, and now MrSleds time of 2 hours, I will be doing the install myself.

This past summer I tried to get install instructions from Yamaha (the kits do not come with any and there is something like 54 parts in the kit) they told me this info is for dealers only and would not be released to consumers. After spending over $1000 on two kits, I thought this was extremely bad customer service.
If any Yamaha reps are reading this thread let's hear your response.

RX4fun,
I think it will ultimately come down to the dealer and their willingness to work with the customer. I bought a black RX-1 last year and decided to put reverse on it. I initially went to the dealer where I purchased my sled and ordered one but found out that the reverse kit was on backorder from Yamaha. My only luck in locating one would be to find a dealer that had one on their shelf. Fortunately, I was able to locate one from Port Yamaha. Keep in mind that I had even paid for the kit since I bought some other items from my dealer. Not only did they credit my account w/o hassle but their service manager gave me the instructions on how to put it on :!: My only beef with Yamaha was that even though I was willing to let the dealer install the kit, they would not add the reverse kit to the Y.E.S warranty I had purchased for my sled; it would only have the standard 90 policy as do any of their aftermarket parts has. Now, I was able to get them to extend the warranty for a year but they would not cover it for the full 5 years even though I was going to have one of their authorized service technician install the kit. It was bad enough that the kit cost twice as much as the option to have the kit when ordering one but for them to not cover it under the Y.E.S. was surprising. I mean I do not consider the kit an aftermarket part; it's just a factory kit that was not offered on the color of sled I wanted and was added later. I will agree with everyone else in that it takes about 2 hours worth of work. Just take your time and organize the parts and it will go smoothly.
