Like the title says, a 128 will crash into your tunnel and snow flap support bracket if you do not extend it a little. (I was told that no extension was needed, but the guys on the TY give-away ride will confirm its need!)

see attached images of home-made extension

Extension is not needed, but you do need to bend the rear bracket that supports the mud flap out quite a bit. I run a 128 Cobra with 1.450 studs. Nice work on your bracket though!

Curious if going from a 121 to a 128 is worth it money and time wise?

I am considering it when it comes time to do a track change, just don't know if I should carry on to a 136 or not?

All you needed is a 1" square aluminum tubing to offset your snowflap support aluminum piece along with the snowflapfrom the cast exahsut support. I put on over 3,500 miles and you could not even tell it was modded nor did my 1.450" studs reach the snowflap.

Yes, the 128" is well worth the mod over 121", improved acceleration and top end over 121"...

that sounds like the perfect size for our torque monging ':4STroke:'
how much did it set you back and what did you have to do to the suspension?

All you need is a 121-128 rail ext.,a 128" track of choice.I have a deal on 128" ripsaw for $400.Then you just need the rail. ext.

Guys, if you run studs and bottom your suspension out, you WILL tear the flap and support bracket up something fierce. Quite a few TY members were there when this happened to me on Feb 4th thru the 7th. We spent 2 hours in the Comfort Inn garage, straightening the support bracket and then bending it way back to avoid the track/studs. The next day, it hit again and forced me to remove the flap. I had to bend the bracket all the way up to the bumper to clear the track, 180 degrees out.

If not running studs, you won't ruin the bracket because the lugs will deflect.

If you have not had a problem, it is only because you have not bottomed your suspension.

There is a sure fire way to confirm this on your sled,,,,remove the mono shock and let the suspension down and witness the interference at the flap.

I extended mine as well and will also confirm that without an extension you will have a mess on your hands. I bottomed my sled out and my studs grabbed the flap support brakect and folded it like a piece of paper. My studs also made slight contact with my rear coolant tube that runs across the rear. I would suggest the extension as well as extending the tunnel protectors. My track was also catching the end of the protectors.

I vote for you do not 'need' the extension. I put 3,500+/- miles on my 128" cobra (w/studs). Yes, the first time out I caught the support bracket but the easiest/best thing to due is just allow the snow flap support bracket to be bent forward or in line with the direction of the track is rotating (towards the front of the sled). Therefore, (with the support bracket still on there the snow flap will still be rivited to the bracket. Then, buy a $20 snow flap strap kit (or make one like I did out of a hockey skate lace, elec.tape and big washers) to hang up the snow flap to keep it out of the way.
