Hey all

I have a bender trail pipe for my Attak coming in soon and was just wondering if anyone had any insight towards the installation.

I have installed many exhausts on two stroke sleds and have used high temp silicone for the exaut joints, just to make sure there is a solid connection with no leaks, this applies to the exhaust doughnut coming off a y-pipe. But since this isnt no 2-stroke, im not sure if I should use any high temp. on the doughnuts. Im sure it wouldnt hurt, but was just wondering what you guys did?

Also, to pull the stock doughnuts out of the stock pipe, I plan on using small steel rods with a 90 degree circular bend opposite main shank (like a mini cane) and use a few of them to get in behind the lip of the doughnuts, then just pull the rods all evenly and hopefully pulling the doughnuts out in the process.

Anyone have anything to add?

Thanks in advance

Pat

good luck with that. if i were you i would order new onnes right away.i,ve been there done that. i never had luck pullin those donuts out. then you have to wait to put it back together till the new ones come in

Just pulled off my exhaust. I had read some post about the clamp comeing loose due to the donuts wearing out or something along those lines. Anyway the left tube was able to slide off on its own the right side tube was stuck and I tried to lightly pry the tabs a little with no luck. Finnally after a while I decided to take out the Mapp torch (plumbing torch with a mapp tank on it) warm it up a little bit, maybe 40 sec. or so and bingo right off it came.

As far as the donuts go

Part Number: 8FA-14714-10-00
Description: GASKET, MUFFLER for 2006 Yamaha RX10RTRL/RX10RL
Order Quantity: 2
Shipped Quantity: 2
Unit Price: $11.33
Total Cost: $22.66

These are the one for the muffler to mid pipe. $23.00 for gaskets may seem like a lot but better safe then sorry.
