I know there's other insurance topics on here but you have people from montana replying to rates in NY. They don't match up at all. Insurance goes by area.
So for anyone in MY area only, if you could tell me a good place to get stand alone snowmobile insurance. I have zero tickets, and zero accidents (other than one when a guy hit me in the patrol car, that doesn't get reported though) so I should get a good rate.
Tried state farm, they are good price but require me to move my vehicles over, and that quote is a BAD price. Tried a couple multi-listing agents around and keep getting stupid numbers like 1700-3200 for full coverage.
If you are in the Syracuse, Utica, Rome area let me know where you get it and how much. I'd appreciate the help. I have an 04 and an 05 that I need coverage on.

I'm not from your area, but have you checked Progressive?(www.progressive.com) WAY cheaper than other quotes for me.

two more,
That's funny you should bring up Progressive. Before we bought our place in the U.P. and had to trailer from here in central OH, that's who I was with. WHAT A BATH!!!!!
BUT, they were the only ones that would write it around here.
(P.S. How come the little "censored" smiley face doesn't work, eh?)

That is interesting! At one point Liberty Mutual was so cheap on my sled insurance that I ended up insuring 4 cars and my house through them also. Now they are so much more expensive than anyone else, I have dropped them as my insurance company. I got hooked up with Progressive because it was so easy to get a quote online, and it ended up being quite a bit less than anyone else.
It's all a racket I tell ya....

Try the Getzoni Agency. He was at the Old Forge Snodeo last weekend and the rates he quoted were less than State Farm. He quoted me $227.00 for $500 deductable full coverage on an 05 Vector.

I was at Meyer's Campers in Syracuse and ran into a guy that said he got his snowmobile insurance super cheaper from a agent in Clinton. Not sure that is the right town, I wasn't listening so good. But, if there is a Clinton by Syracuse, maybe you can check the yellow pages.

Nationwide- Frank Callahan is the agent in Rome NY he is the cheapest I have found..
I can't believe your rates are that bad. I live in an area of Western NY where auto rates are higher than north of us in Buffalo. Rates on my 05 RX1 with State Farm are 38 for liability only or 350 for full coverage.
I can't seem to get an online snowmobile quote using Progressive.com. Has atv/motorcycle, but nothing for sleds.

The majority of the suggestions in this thread were very high. The Getzoni Agency was by far the cheapest. REALLY good deal. I got two RX-1's insured for $590, full coverage 500 deductable.

I had my 2004 RX1 Shorty last year and my new 2005 RX1 Shorty insured thru Nationwide. It was pretty reasonable in the mid 250-300 dollar range for full coverage with a $500.00 deductable. I'll know if it was worth it when I finish the insurance claim. I totalled my 2005 on 12/18. Not even 4 miles on her. According to Action Motorsports in Brewerton it would be a $9300.00 Repair Bill. Thank God for Helmets and Insurance!

Alot of the guys in the Eastern Adirondacks have started using Canoe Associates in Glens Falls, 518-792-9915. Their rates are supposed to be better than most. They also support the local clubs by purchasing add space on our trail maps.
I have all my insurance with Allstate, and Canoe gave me a stand alone quote that was actually a couple dollars cheaper. Not enough to make me want to change, but it was for stand alone. Give them a call and see what they offer.
