Interesting Find with Yamaha Stock Clutch Weights

Hey guys a buddy of mine once told me to weigh you weights before you put them in your clutch because often there are discrepencies between them.

So I was curious...I weighed my HH's on a digital scale and they were all perfect!

I threw the Yamaha weights on the scale and each one was different with the greatest difference being 1/2 Gram between the others! Something to consider doing if you have the equipment...my buddy reccomended grinding a small amount off the heaviest weight(s) to make them even... I re-calibrated the scale and did this several times and the results were the same. Just an FYI

To the clutch experts....Would a 1/2 gram make a difference and what would it be?

Well... I suppose that it really depends on where on the weight the extra weight is... If its evenly wrapped around the pin, than it won't make a difference as far as the shift pattern is concerned, but may put the clutch slightly out of balance. Note that the balance of the clutch is likely nowhere NEAR .5 gram accuracy.

The easiest way to check if they're equal weight is:
Take them all out of your clutch, throw each one with equal force as far as you can....The heaviest one will fall a few feet short...then just leave them where they fall and get some good ones.
