Hello everyone, I put a 1.75 backcountry track on my new XTX and took out the tunnel protectors like everyone said you should do. I was up in the UP last week riding, got about 1100 miles on the sled before I went into a corner to hot and went off the trail. When I hit the snow bank and landed in the powder, it must have slapped the track up into the stock "Y" pipe of the exhaust and broke the whole bottom of the "Y" out. So now I have a open exhaust, and 70 miles back to the truck. Talk about loud!! Anyway I have a new header pipe coming from MBRP, it looks like it is alot heavier where the 3 pipes come together. I am really thinking I should put my tunnel protectors back in, just to make sure it doesn't happen again. With the seat and muffler out, when I push the suspension down all the way, it looks like it should clear. I thought maybe if I cut the front 6 inches off and reinstall the rest it would still have clearance. Would like to know if anyone else has had anything like this happen, or is running the 1.75 track with the protectors in? Any comments would be appreciated.

are you running your track really loose? I've never heard anything on here about this happening. Everyone has always said that the tunnel protectors must be removed...

I'm running my track just a little looser that normal , trying to help on hyfax wear. Have been on some hard packed trails, so I thought it would be better since I have the 1.75 track. I'm running anti-rachets, since I'm running a MPI stage 1. Never thought this problem would be a issue.

i have a 2" "notched" track and still have my protectors in. could not bear to cut into my new sled. i am running the stock drivers also

I don't think it was your track that hit the collector on your pipe I think it was a crappy factory weld. My RTX did the exact same thing 2 weekends ago in the U.P. and I had to ride 100 miles like that on a boosted sled. I still have the tunnel protectors in so I know the track never touched it. My sled got louder and at one point the piece was there and then a few miles later all gone and I could see straight into the 3 pipes. I'm only running a Cobra 1.325" lug track. I'm thinking about having someone weld on some extra steel to make the pipe a little stronger since I got a whole new pipe to install.

Interesting info, Nitrousman 1 now I wonder what really happened. The whole bottom of the collector is gone on mine. Maybe just the strain or twist of the snow bank putting me up in the air is what broke it? Do you have a turbo or a S/C on your sled? I have a MPI stage 1 on mine and boy is it a kick to ride!!!

MPI Stage 1 on mine also, maybe to much back pressure from the boost on the pipe, mine is totally gone just like yours. If I get a chance I'll try and post a picture of mine later or the video clip of it running. There's a video clip of mine on youtube if you search Got Boost? I think it comes up.

Hey Nitrousman, went to youtube and there was a video by nitrousman 99 is that yours. It had a dash off of a Apex on it. That is one of the things I miss most on the Nytro is the dash that my Apex's had. If that is your, does that dash just plug into the harness of the Nytro or did you have to do alot of rewiring?

Yes that's mine on youtube. It plugs right in but the tach is off by 1000 rpm's and the clock resets when you turn the sled off. The needle has been adjusted for the rpm change and if I get a chance I've been told if I run constant power to the brown wire on harness the clock will keep the correct time. I need to test the sled with the old gauge on it because the previous owner thinks that the Apex gauge might be throwing off the ECU causing the sled to run slower than it should so I may be back to the old gauge soon. I'll test them both next weekend and see what happens.
