I'm about to install some Doo extroverts and was wondering if it's worth clipping my track after I open up the windows on my ripsaw, I figured I'd post in this area instead of the mountain section since I do more trail riding then powder

It was worth it to me. It helps in those hard/frozen trail conditions, or road areas when your speed is restricted in residential areas and the like. My track stuck to the hyfax 2 seasons ago up in Iron Bridge. It stopped me cold and I had to flip the sled over and pull the track free.
If you haven't opened the windows you could also use the SLP wear-pads, or something similar. I've also been told by Sno-X racers, that you can open the windows and leave it, and it won't hurt anything either.
Installing clips are tricky with the 1.25" lugs so you may have to either take the track to a dealership, performance shop, or spend some $$$ on a good tool.

I have spent the last hour or so in the garage clipping my new 151" 1.5" camoplast with a sno-stuff clip tool and have had no problems. The tool will easily handle a 1.25" lug.
I am clipping the track (which comes with a clip on every 3rd) based on the advice of my mechanic who lives and breathes Yamaha snowmobiles.
I would do it, and its easier when everything is apart.
....got approximately 50 clips done, and only 30 more to go!

after going to the stealership and finding out they want 250$ to clip my track I'm going to pass, I'll run the ripsaw without it and if it gets messed up o well I'll buy another one that's fully clipped

I went to a fully clipped track last season and it rolls so much nicer.
Just open the windows, big improvement without the clips. 1700 mi on my track now with now sign of wear.

What is the purpose of the closed windows anyway?
I'm making up some Cooling Fins that attach to the inside of the front ski's (Like Simmons Flexi-Ski) that will hopefully alleviate some of the overheating issue's in sparse conditions. They are also supposed to help with HyFax overheating and sticking, although I have not had any issues with this. I run the SLP anti- wear pads and they seem to work well!

I'd say the reason to open up the windows is it allows you to use anti-ratchet drivers
atleast that's why I'm doing it

The closed windows weigh less than a fully clipped track. I am sure camoplast was not willing to take the risk of having open and unclipped windows.
I did this to mine after hearing of mountain guys drilling holes in their tracks to save weight. I saw some pics on the net of tracks with holes through out including the windows.

The Ice Ripper comes fully punched and 1/3 clippied. Probably 1/3 clipped to save weight and cost.
I think the closed windows work better on groomed and/or icy trails. They keep the water and snow in. In the conditions I ride in, I got less hyfax wear with the OEM (closed window) track than a fully punched track.
