I have a 05 RX1 with 2300 miles on it, I just picked it up in march so I didn't run it much. My question is the track is a little rough it's missing a few lugs and has some broken studs I guess the guy who had it before liked to spin the track in low snow conditions. Replacing the studs is no problem but 3 or 4 of the lugs on the outside ripped out down to what looks like wood but the main track is fine. I it OK to run this track or should I replace it? I will try to add pictures to the post but not sure how it will work out. Thanks

O you should get a good 1000 miles out of it.

My opinion, NO!! For what a low mileage takeoff costs it isn't worht the worry. My Viper peeled the ouside row, with studs, and wiped out my front cooler and gouged the crap out of the front inside edge of the tunnel. We were 40 miles from the truck at 9
o PM and rode 2 up on my buddies Venture. NOT the way I wanted to end my day! Repair bill was around $800. Save yourself worry and potential grief and change it now.

I agree with Dave $300 now is better than $1000 and loosing at least a week of riding this winter

OK that makes it 2 yes and 2 no, anybody else?
You need to do a close inspection of the whole track, each pick especially, to assure yourself that you won't end up with the problems Dave had. Nobody can make a proper assessment from one picture. But if you want another vote, I would opt for a new track.

Personally I would replace it, as I was in the exact same position as you find yourself in. When I ride I do not want to be second guessing whether my track will get me home. Replace it and have peace of mind.

it is the off season. time to replace it as when it fails during riding season, it might cost you a trip or a weekend in the garage replacing it when you could be out sledding. i replaced mine and i only had one bar like that showing. sent the old one out for repair evaluation as a spare.

I would replace the track and do the chaincase side bearings and the lower PTO bearing while you are at it....Then you know you are 100% good to go when the snow flies....
You might also be surprised what you find when you pull the suspension out (bearings & bushings, etc). 2300 miles isn't a lot, but the sled is pushing 6 years old. If the previous owner didn't have a habit of greasing the chassi regularly, you may see wear beyond what 2300 might bring....Only one way to find out, and that's to pull the suspension.
