with a Black and red color is this the last year for the Nytro. was 04 the last year for the viper with the Black and red Viper S. Im just thinking outloud maybe Im wrong.

Rumor has it that the Doo XP has completed it's usual 5 year cycle.
Yamaha tends to be slower at revamps.
Look at the Apex, it really didn't change all that much.

I expect it is - they will keep the Apex and Vector with EPS, but will have a new lightweight chassis with an entry level 80-100HP motor, and with a 130-150HP motor based on the nytro motor ( or possibly the same 80-100 motor offerred with or without a turbo)

It might be just wishful thinking since I'll be in the market in the spring, a new chassis would drive down the price of the used Nytro's I am looking at :)

I also think Ski-doo will have a new chassis - the suspsension upgrades were just a bridge to the new or significantly updated chassis.

Polaris will also have a new 4 stroke, they have to realize the market is growing and they are loosing out on the 4 stroke sales with strong competition now from Doo, AC and Yamaha.

It's all speculation until spring.....

You're right!
Unless guys get some spy photos of some new iron out on the trail, which would be cool.
I see spy photos of new bikes in magazines often.

Because of the 2012 EPA standards coming into effect, 2013 model year will make all manufactures have 4-strokes and/or direct injection 2-strokes. Gone will be all carb'ed and EFI 2-strokes for 2013.

I think the FX chassis will see a new front end (suspension geometry) and new motor options (factory boost).

Whether or not that means a change in model names (Nytro = ?, Phazer = Exciter) who knows.

IMO the new dual runner skis and vespel hyfax should be standard on all trail sleds. Yamaha needs to update the gauges to include/surpass features that others mfgs have (altimeter, temp readings, etc.).

Actually dealers here say the word is 2013 will bring EPS to the Nytro. Also sales of the Nytro have always been strong so doubt it would be droped.
For me I would jump into a new sled if they offered say an xtx or rtx with push turbo for us flatlanders.

Push turbo is out as a turbo supplier for Yamaha - MPI is the vendor for both the turbos and the superchargers now.

IMO the nytro does not need the added weight of EPS, what it needs is a front end geometry change (like what Skinz and Zbros are offering with the a-arm kits this year). IMO it is just like the ATV line - some models need EPS, others do not.

Exactly a geometry change would be a lot cheaper then the eps too.

I posted on another thread about future sleds that my dealer was told by his Yamaha rep, that this February Yamaha will be doing its first ever early release, and that they will be dropping both the phazer and nytro chassis. I am praying that this means an all new chassis to house both the 130 and 150 motors. Something that can be both utilized for all riding styles with different shock/suspension packages. It makes sense to make one chassis I stead of three different ones.

I'd be happy if Yamaha just updated the Nytro with a new subframe and a-arm geometry. The front end it the worst part of the sled for me.

I don't see them doing that though. I don't see them coming out with a new chassis either. They ran and offered the trailing arm Vmax chassis from '97 to '05 or '06. They ran the Exciter chassis from '87 to '93 and the TSS Vmax chassis wasn't that much different. Yamaha just doesn't change things very often and they certainly won't being #4 in sales and having the economy and poor overall sled sales factoring in.

From what my dealer told me 2013 will bring major changes(thats all i know in this end).As for the 150HP apex motor in a new chassis? That won,t happen for at least another 4-5 years. As for the nytro name?I think its history in 2013.We may see a very advanced chassis, one which the motor is beneath the rider.Compact cooling system. No tunnel to speak of.Lighter chaincase.

That's crazy ear to the ground stuff right there. Wouldn't that cool. I'm ready to see some radical changes!
