2011 RsVenture
I have a 2011 RS Venture. I just replaced all skid and the driveshaft bearing....8500km. Did it more for piece of mind.
I've googled, but I can't find procedure to remove Jackshaft bearing in place. All posts on this site have a bearing with a wedge cone and nut. My machine has a bearing cup holder held on with two torx bolts. There is a large circlip locking bearing in cup and a smaller one holding it on the Jackshaft.

So my question is, if I remove the cup and circlips, how hard is it to get bearing off the shaft? Is it pressed on tight.....do I have to remove shaft and get it pressed off?

Also I've yet to find a number for that bearing other than oem.

Note: just noticed I posted this in the general forum rather than the Rs forum as I had intended.

wondering the same thing. i want to replace the one on my Apex. i'm replacing with an OEM when i find out how to do it. I'm really hoping i dont have to take the whole chain case apart since the reatiner is on the outside of the frame. mine is now at 12700 km

PITA to replace. If it looks good (no rust or corrosion) I would clean it real good with WD40, re-grease and put it back together. The JS bearing doesn't get the water like the DS bearing. My 06 has the original JS bearing (cleaned every year) with 21,600 miles...

Buddy with my 2006 APEX GT still has original Jackshaft bearing at close to 20,000 miles with only greasing every couple of years.

I made a tool to replace mine, you will need a slide hammer to use it PM me if you like.
I would just re-do the bearing, mine was still good

Hey Tombob
Looked at all your posts and saw many great ways to remove bearing with collar.
Mine is a 2011, has the retaining cup and a circlip on the Jackshaft. Looks like the bearing inner race fits snuggly on the shaft...ie no collar. I have not attempted it yet, and maybe I'm not understanding. I can't see any way any tool could slip in between shaft and inner race, as there is no collar.

My question is, will it slide off relatively easy, like my driveshaft bearing did. I'm thinking with cup cover removed we could attach to bearing with a mig and use a slide hammer,if it was stuck. But then I can't weld, and a little nervous about messing up a perfectly good Jackshaft.

It's not that I'm uncomfortable dismantling chaincase, just thinking it's uneccessary, if the bearing can be removed from clutch side.

I've did the re packing several times, and I am pretty confident that bearing is good.....I'm just thinking peace of mind if it's an easy replacement. We've all seen the Jackshaft and drive bearings take all kinds of pricey parts with them when they go.

This has been crazy winter for us...April 20th....still leaving from back yard. Did 150km yesterday. Going again today.

^^^^what yogi_12 said.
no locking collar on the inside on these newer apex's, they have double c-clips on the outside. i've also repacked several times as well so time to replace it. i was wondering if i can go from the back side and tap it out with say a piece of hard wood (like a piece of wooden hockey stick) and a BFH. i haven't tried it yet but whether you take the chain case apart or not that bearing has to slide off in that direction so i think my idea might work. i will not be doing mine until fall but interested in hearing if anyone else has a better way.

Stupid question…maybe, but here goes. Is this about the jackshaft bearing behind the secondary clutch or the bearing on the chain case side? Thanks

Thanks THKSNOW
