Thought this be a fairly easy job but has turned out not so much so. The bearing behind the secondary clutch went out my bad for not greasing it. Removed the collar and center of the old bearing off the shaft. Now here's the BS starts made a slide hammer to pop the old race off lots heat with even map gas (burns hotter) and it won't budge. So apart comes the chain side case to drive the race out going the other way with a long bar and more heat... Still not budging. I'm stumped. Not really a small enough grinder to cut it, should maybe try a hacksaw?

You'll have to remove shaft and use a hand grinder with cutoff wheel, ,GO SLOW AND CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE SHAFT and cut race off, it will cut off, good luck.

It seems it's highly likely that some sort of cut should free it up. I tell ya I spent most of the day yesterday heating and banging and to the guys who posted theirs popped or come right off wish I had that luck.

agree with big dog. Try a Dremel with a fiber cutoff wheel. If you cant cut it at a 90 degree angle just cut it at a 45 or whatever. Once you get a good cut going sometimes a cold chisel in the cut can break it loose. If you still cant get at it you will have to remove the shaft

Just be sure you wear safety glasses and gloves and be careful! those pieces are sharp!!

I have done this many times on frozen inner bearing races. I have also cut them off with a cutting torch, but you have to be real good with the flame wrench for that to work.

I hear you on cutting with a torch but one false move and it will mess up the integrity of the bearing cup. I'm thinking we're trying a 4 in grinding wheel with some use I'll get the diameter of the wheel smaller to fit the hole. I'm hoping one cut will make it work.

you have to be an expert with a cutting torch to attempt that.
I am such an expert. I was a mechanic for 20 years ;)

Another helpful tool is an air chisel. Again, you need to know what you are doing with one as you can do more harm than good.

There is a tapered collar between the bearing and the jackshaft, is the bearing stuck on that or are you trying to get the collar off?

No it was the race pressed into the frame then held in with a circlip. Wow it did not wanna come off ended up cutting it a crossed with a carbine blade regular hacksaw blades weren't putting a dent in that hardened steel. I then pried up on it and it shattered into pieces.

I had the same issue dremal with a small cut off wheel solved it two small cuts at about 4 oclock and 8 oclock not all the way to the back and I wacked the peice in the middle of the cuts a few times with a chisle and it busted out and race came out
