Guys, (and Gals) Dont mean to offend. I know I seen this thread somewhere in here about the jackshaft bearing and a homemade tool to replace it, without looking thru 400 pages can someone give me the link? My Wifes sled w/5500 miles went bad, my sled w/12k is still OE. Go figure, the only thing my 12k sled needed was driveshaft bearing and exhaust doughnuts at 9800 miles. Love these 4-strokers. Thanks!

When I looked at the manual it is not clear how to change, looking at bearing it looks like it is held in with a snap ring behind the secondary. I know when I installed my ripsaw track and had to pull the chain case apart there was a nut on the top gear/chain case side. Thinking about how this comes apart it looks like I have to pull the chain case and pull the secondary and snap ring, and then remove the shaft from the left side. I have heard talk about a revised bearing with a collar and set screws? The new bearing has not come in yet so I have not studied how it is retained in the chassis or pressed on the shaft. I may be over thinking this and it will be clear as I pull it apart. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am a retired automotive technician (5 years now) and getting a little rusty while I keep tinkering. Thanks for any and all replies.

In '04 they upgraded the bearing and collar arrangement. You want to be putting in the '04 or later version, which requires a few more parts than just the bearing. If the old bearing is frozen on the shaft, it may very well be easier to remove the entire shaft and have it pressed off.

bearing
the only differce is in the coller. the bearing is the same . 03 s came with a taperd sleve with nothing to hold it in place other than luck . mine would wander in and out changeing belt alinment at speed and would blow belt s . back in the shop alinment would be bang on. i had the clutch off for ajusting and i touched the sleve when playing with the jack shaft and out poped the coller. it only took me about six weeks to get the up dated coller and nut that was needed.
