Well, I was going through the sled today after returning from Muni, and found that my secondary was loose in the bearing!!! I pulled the clutch off to find the collar with the nut still on it pulled completly through the bearing and just floating on the shaft towards the chaincase side of the bearing!!! I'm not sure if this was the cause or not, but if you look at the picture below, you will see the shaft has a relief of some kind in it where the bearing rides. I haven't seen this before, and it looks like it was actually machined into the shaft rather than worn away or something. What is the purpose of this??? Has anyone else ever heard of the locking collar pulling completly through to the inside of the bearing???
I layed the jackshaft out of my sled next to one I have out of another warrior...

I had something similar happen to a polaris xlt I had. It might look machined but it is the bearing riding on the jackshaft that did that damage. Time for a new jackshaft. I didn't think it would be possible for the locking collar to pass right through the bearing. The collar and bearing are both tapered to wedge itself in place. Need to find out why that locking collar let go?

it is from bearing riding on shaft

The groove on the shaft is from the shaft spinning in the bearing since the inner race of the bearing was not clamped to the shaft. You'll need to replace the shaft.

replaced jackshaft, as well as locking collar and nut...not sure what made the collar pull through the bearing, but hopefully it won't happen again!!!
