Just bought a 2011 Apex

So i just bought a 2011 apex. I want to make some changes. Want a lower Windshield, Skid plate, 4th wheel kit.

They don't make windshields or a 4th wheel kit yet. I'm pretty surprised they don't have this stuff ready to go.

Guess I'll have to get an airbox mod from Ulmer ordered instead.

Did you get the XTX, SE or RS version? Congrats on the new sled.

I bought a Standard. Love the look of the SE but i hear they ride stiff. Like the idea of the XTX but I want a mono shock skid.

If the shocks need an upgrade I can get a good deal on what ever I want. I think they will be good

My girlfriend bought and SE at the start of the season and loves it. She's only 120lbs and the suspension works perfect for her. She rides with 75psi in the front and 150psi in the mega float. Nothing but smiles from her too! When I get on it I change the mega float to 200psi and it rides like a dream. I have never thought it was a rough ride at all. I compare it to a cadillac...just plush.

Can't you make your own 4th wheel kits by making a couple cuts on the existing shaft and picking up another wheel, or is there something different to the '11 models?

Yamaha makes a low chrome/black windshield..it looks nice but doubt it will give much wind protection....it's listed in the Canadian brochure..part number SMA-8HG96-10-CH. The current 4th wheel kit should work..or you can make your own...judging by the looks of the nose cone of the 11, it doesn't appear to be any different than the 06-10..current one should work aswell.

Congrats.......nothing wrong with the std. When I rode the demos I thought...."why buy the more spendy models, these ride just fine"......


Did you get blue or the red? I saw a new blue std. on the trail today.

Shaddow tha axel is different in the 11's so the current kit will not work. I talked to port yamaha and Kevin is a parts god and he said no windshields except a bigger one.

Interesting, I wonder what they changed in the rear axle to make it different....anyway..the number I gave for the windshield is for a low chrome for the 2011 Apex....pic is in the back of the sled brochure...run the number through your dealer and see what is shows...maybe it's Canadian only...don't know, don't care...just trying to help you out!

For a 4th wheel I just bought a rear idler wheel & cut the spacer,same as I've always done.(apex SE)
