I ride long trips 2-5 days of 200-400 miles a day.I want to load maine and possiable nh maps on it and make tracks of were I ve been have done a lot of research on them so far and have only realy confued myself any help for a gps dummy world be great
thanks Jeff

I'm no expert, but have you checked out GPS Sled Maps? Your unit is in their list of supported models and the instructions are pretty easy to follow. Whilst Maine is a premium map, there are some free maps you can download and load into your GPS unit. I would suggest you try getting one of the free maps to work and then purchase the one for Maine.

You did well, the 60cx model is very good for snowmobiling and you can easily find a cable and micro sd card anywhere.

thanks guy I have read most of the users manual and am still confused on how to use it have looked at all the maps online and blogs what seems easy to others is not so easy for me.seems I need lots of programs to make it all work with my computer.I realy just wanted to make sure I didn't need to get the unit with the sd card

I thought the 60CX had an SD card. I know my 60CSX does. Should be a micro SD card behind the batteries. Personally I find it very simple to use. You need a copy of Garmin waypoint and trip manager for yor PC and either a card reader or USB cable to plug in the GPS. Of course you will need the maps in the proper format to work in the Garmin. When I got mine first I just took it along in the car to get used to using it.

thanks rollright have not seen that sight yet

i do not have a sd slot or any mapping software at all what do I start with?I'am still on the fence with this unit or any gps don't want to spend lots of time trying to use it or spend lots of money on software or accesories for it

just double check no sd card slot the csx has it thats what the x stands for it has 56mb of memory and it seems that leaving tracks on long trips only work well with the units with sd cards for xtra memory

I learn something new every day. All I though the difference was the CSX had the altimiter function. According to Garmins site the CX has the SD card, the 60 does not. It is just in a little metal slot type thing behine the batteries. You have to remove the batteries to get at it.

When you buy a micro sd card, it usually comes with an adapter cartridge which can be inserted into a usb port on your computer.

Apparently you can download a couple of programs to get Mapsource on your computer for free, I just can't remember how. If you sign onto "Groundspeak forums", there is a lot of info there, try signing on and doing a search there.

You wanted a cheaper price, the effect is that you got to work for the extra info and programs. You pay more, you get the software for free.

Is yours color or grey scale screen? cx is color 60 is grey scale. (black and white)

its color

I don't mind searching for it I will just ask lots of stupid questions as I'am a little slow LaLaLa the price I payed $80 was to good to pass up just need to search and I think I will be alright hopefully before I ride if not I will just use it speed and distance and waypoints thats what I do unstandstand to use now

here is a pic of my 60CSX with the back opened and batteries out. You can see the card in there under the shiny silver cover.
