I have just bought an 08 Apex ltx gt from a dealer. Well I still have to go pick it up tomorrow but the deal's 99%. Now I'm wondering what is next? I have searched the posts but I'd love to hear what owners, riders and tuners of this particular Ape model think and recommend.
Please feel free to mention even the smallest, most basic tips.
Some questions I have are; are the olins in the front as good as the float IIs? Do I need to get a big boy spring? Sway bar? Bushings? Etc.
I an 6'2" and 300. Ok a bit more with gear lol and I trail ride 30% and lake ride 70%. My trail riding is moderate to mildly aggressive, on well groomed trails that can get beat up slightly at times. My lake running is 3/4 throttle to WFO.
Thanks in advance for any help sent my way. This site was a definite consideration when I decided to stick with a Yammi.

probably need the big boy spring for that mono shock........we all had ours revalved by pioneer and our one friend also had the big boy spring.
Make the front A arms set about level for cornering.....I know that is easy to do with the fox floats....not sure with the Olins....on my Attack I put the springs as loose as possible but i weigh #170. Several people also go with a 13mm sway bar...
Do a search and you will find tons of info on each subject you want to read about.....great site and great info.

Congrats on the sled. I bought an 08 GT last year. Love the sled. There are lots of performance improvements that can be done pretty easily. I looked at site users signatures after each post. Most people have the mods they did listed in their profiles. Gives you a good idea what works and is worth the money. Then if you have a question about a mod you can PM that person. Everyone has always been very helpful. If I could give my .02 it would be to focus first on comfort, then performance. Best thing I did was get a yamaheater. Made riding more comfortable, which in turns let's you ride longer and more often. Some easy mods are hotter plugs and stealth air box mod. . . Which you can easily do yourself for free. Good luck.

just bought the 08 Apex Ltx gt. Now what?
Why not gass it up & ride it a couple of hundred miles, then post what you don't like, then you'll get a lot of good suggestions.Everyone rides differently & what suits one may not suit you.You could be making changes based on one persons riding styles that are completely different that yours.
Just my opinion.

You won't get the Ohlins completely level in the front. I tried it with mine. My advise is just ride it first and then decide what is good for you.
