I have an '03 shorty completly stock. Loking at filter kit that includes filters, crank filter, jets, plugs and carb springs. $550 CDN. plus install. Is it worth it without the clutch kit? Its an additional $420.

Looking for some advice on how to spend my money!

I FEEL you need the clutch kit to take advantage of what thefilter kit is doing.

I didnt think so. Also, is there a difference between Freddies and the K&N set up?

Keep an eye on the classified section i saw a filter kit go for $150 US just the other day. I got mine for $100 and a clutch kit for $150. Black 1000 is right the two go together without it would be like a turbo with a 1lb boost ;)!

you can play with the stock clutching, springs, rollers, and maybe a helix. a whole cluch kit for big $$$ is not necessary.

I was checking Royal website, filters $100, pre-filters $30, carb springs $50, jets $16. Couldnt find the crank case vent filter but say $50, plugs $45.

The parts are less than half what they are charging. What am I missing?

there are lots going for sale, just wait and help out a tyer when they have one for sale. easy to install and peaple will help you out.i bought 2 of them off here last year. as for clutching, i am still not convinced it is a big deal, mine went better with the filters, i had added the spedshop clutching and not sure if it was much of a gain.but thats just me

With both in my 03 i can honestly say i noticed a big difference other than the initial take off my 03 with the finger track can hang with a stock APEX just fine. Running the lakes in Manitoba last year i actually passed MrSled at 120+ When we pulled over first thing he said was he wanted the clutch kit back lol.

First I had just the clutch kit form the Speedshop ( now extinct ) but what a difference. Then I got the filter kit and updated the clutch to match and awsome. I am a firm believer in that all snowmobiles come with ho hum clutching that work good for the masses but you need a good kit to make it just right for you.

Again as with most of my posts just my $0.01

You can get the crankcase filter in the ricer section at canadian tire for about $15. It is the same thing as a valve cover breather for a car.

Great info.

Freddie, what is the cost shipped and duty ect. up to Barrie??? Any payment options? My wife gets the Visa bill so......

Fellow Canadian here,The kit that Freddie sells is worth ever penny.I'm the only one in my area that has it . My rx1 pulls better, sounds better and turns heads. You won't regret the purchase. Now I have too make up my mind to buy the clutch kit or exhaust???
