I just picked up a stock 09 MTX. I ride in UP of Michigan and will take a week trip to snowies each year. I want to turbo it but need a good installer in my area. What mods do you all recommend? Any good turbo installers in WI or northern IL?

My opinion -
Turbo (any of the low boost kits) - with guages
Steering post relocate kit
forward a-arms
running boards that evacuate snow
on that sled (09) you should also consider going with a Cat skid

What is the best recomondation for front end kits?

Robb a bank first and fore most. you will need the extra funding.
Roll over valve if your going to ride off trail at all. OFT relocator for the steering.
I would go with Zbroz front end. If you go with the Skinz front end you should buy new spindles becaise the kit was designed around the +2010 spindles which have relocated mounts for the tie rods . You can get the older spindles to work but the kit was designed around the new spindle geometry of the 2010. Plus you have the added cost of modifing you shocks to work. Each kit has their good points and bad points. Do your homework and choose the best one that will work for you. CR Racing has a interesting front end kit now as well but you have the added cost of getting into the US.
I went the route of getting the sled to work and handle better before going with boost. the OEM track just doenst work well in the snow i ride in. It is a whole different sled with a better track under it. the too most popular tracks are the Powerclaw and the camoplast extreme. again each one has there good points and bad points. I went with the powerclaw and am very happy with it
The 08 MTX was the worst of the bunch. the 09 was not much of an improvment over the 08. these sled have a lot of potential but it take a lot to get them to work better.

Thanks for the advise bholmate. I am going with the zbros front end.
I amy buying this as a second sled (so my wife and I can ride together
) I was able to buy this one cheap and it has low miles and not beat up. Even with the front end, roll over valve and steering relocate I am sill cheaper than the 2010s and newer mtxs I have found.
Most my riding is in the flatlands in WI, but we take 2 or 3 trips to the UP of Michigan and ride 50/50 on and off trail there.

Look for flybyu, he can install a turbo as well as anyone. He's located in northern Illinois
The first thing is a rollover valve so you don't wreck your motor.

Just wanted to clarify my statement about the spindles for the skinz front end. I just found out from Rick at OFT Racing that he makes longer tie rods to work on the older pre 2010 nytros. you just have to let him know that you have an older nytro when ordering the kit. He also said that he actually prefers the older spindles. You will have to ask him why.
I am in the mind set that if something was designed with one thing in mind to get the most out of it you should respect the intention of the engineers behind the design and use the parts that were used in the development. this is just me though
I wanted to past the information about the longer tie rods because i never heard that was an option until recently. Good information for those of us who have older nytros.

roll over valve, steering locator, done!
Front end coming.
turbo?? I will ride at elevation only once a year. The rest will be in Michigan UP. What is the best turbo for my varying elevation?

just got the Push Turbo installed. Thanks to Pats Yamaha in Greenland Mi. They were great. Wow love the power! OFT rollover valve and relocate kit going on this week.
what's next? Other than saving up some ????
Definitely need boards and maybe front end kit. Maybe for next season..

If you have the mav track a PC or CE is a great addition. Just put on a CE On my 08 and its like a brand new sled. The sled really hooks up sooo much better. You can really appriciate the torque that engine has.

Agreed on the track upgrade but I've done enough $$$ damage for the year. time to just ride it..fiddlersgreen said:If you have the mav track a PC or CE is a great addition. Snowmobilers nightmare ... My wife sells my sled and parts for what I told her I paid for it..

Track and suspension is a must. Stock form is a trench digger. I love my mtn tamer pops right on top of the snow. It allows me to get to the places I could only dream of with the stocker.
