Hi guys,

I just picked up an 04 Rx1 with the Ripsaw track. I have seen so many posts that go back and forth about studding. The dealer I got the sled from said not to stud due to clearance problems. I checked with another dealer and they told me the same thing. They actually said the zone rep. said if people want to stud an Rx1 to go down to the 1 inch track. Is there a stud that I could add that is short enough not to reach the heat exchanger or exhaust? Will a 1.25 inch stud give me clearance over the lugs. My main purpose for studding would be for stopping. I'm not a Lake Racer.

Any help would be appreciated.

My dealer is telling me 1.45, center only, 144. But I have only ordered them, they are not it and have not been run.

This sled only has 175 miles on it and it has alot of rub marks from where the track hit the heat exchanger protectors and tunnel protectors. Is this normal? I have never had a sled that is so new even come close to hitting the protectors but I never had a track that had lugs in the area of the windows either.

Make sure the track is tightened to specs and go with 96 1.325's up the middle and you'll be fine.

96 ? they will not bent.
I too was hesitant until I read a test report in Supertrax (I think that's who it was) last year. They tested studs on a zr900 and they had the best luck with 96. Great hook up, less weight and they had zero problems. If the test sled would have been a 440 fan instead of the Big zr I would not have listened.
So I ran the equivalent to 96 on my Warrior which is 108 and it worked great. I then added an additional 18 to the rows where the studs were placed the farthest apart just because I didn't like that big of a gap.

No pull outs, none bent and hook up was great. And stopping (which seemed to be the point of this post) was great ;)!

My dealer told me the stock tunnel protectors are good for 1.325's, which don't stick out very far beyond the Ripsaw lugs. He also said he ran slightly taller ones in his track, but riveted some hyfax on the tunnel protectors to compensate, and hasn't had any issues. I'm probably going to run 96-144 up the middle, 1.325's, and leave the outside lugs alone. The last two sleds I had lasted much better keeping the studs off the outside lugs.

Ive run 162 1.370 studs in my warrior and run it on the lake WFO for miles on end and NEVER HAD A PROBLEM!!

There is some on here running 1.40 studs and just add 1/4inch to the tunnel protectors!

WARROIER STUDS

I HAVE 144 STUDS 1.325 WOODYS 1849 MILES I WEIGH 255 LBS I RIDE SLED LIKES ITS STOLEN NO HITTING NO PROBLEM I HAVE LANDED HARD FROM 35 FOOT JUMPS ABOUT 75 MPH. ONLY IM BROKEN !!!

Ive got 162 on mine ( Warrior) but I would add the 1/4 inch to the tunnel protectors. Cheep insurance. The one time you forget to check your track will likelly be the time you have a problem.
