Hey guys, new to the 4 stroke forum but used to be a 2 stroke SRX guy on the original TY site a couple years ago. Anyways i sold my Rev tonight because i'm sick or wrenching on it before, during and after every damn ride. Time for a 4 stroke.

I'm looking at picking up a 2006 Nytro now and dont know anything about them other than they look hot and must be a reliable machine. Can some of you gurus update me on the common issues with the 2006-07 Nytros and what in specific to look for when going over one?

Any feedback and info would be appreciated. I plan on going to look at one this friday if everything works out for me.

Thanks!

One thing I have heard of is check to make sure the the front linkage on the rear suspension (W-arm?) is not cracked at the welds where it meets the crossbar to the frame. There have been issues with that.

SRX was a hell of a sled. Even coming off a rev, the nytro will surprise.
I'd take a good look at the rear suspension idler wheels. I had a front, outside wheel oval its attachment point in the rail. Also the plastic blocks that hold the spring ends tend to wear through.
I've had some chaffing on the hoses, minor fixes really. Even if it has a skid plate, a good hit can bend things enough to where chaffing begins on the coolant hose that runs under the engine.
Other than that, the cam chain tensioner has let go on a small number of these engines. Lots of info. on here on this. If its bad, you'll definitely hear it. But this problem is so rare, I don't worry about.
These are reliable sleds when it comes to the motor. As long as the rest of the regular maintenance was done and the sled wasn't damaged or sunk, you should be fine.
Here's a list of what I've had to replace on mine: exhaust donuts, front suspension bushings, rear skid idler wheel bearings, drive axle bearing (speedo side) just in case, shock rebuild. On a nytro of that year, I'd expect one or more of these things to need addressing unless it was already done.

Thanks for the info guys. Think i'm going to look at a 2006 Nytro ER next week. Anything else i should look for? This one has 3500 miles (5700km).

Mine has been bulletproof...re-valve the skid shocks, get some Kimpex Arrow skis, 13mm sway bar from Pioneer and you will be in love...I just got back from a ride with a 04 rev 600ho and the guy couldn't keep up with me. Groomed and some bumpy twisties didn't matter.
I also have a Yamaha heavy middle shock spring. I picked this sled up from A guy on ebay in 08 for $5200 with 330miles on it and don't plan on replacing it any time soon!
