K&N FILTERS

hemi - Freddies kit comes with filter for crankcase, but the evac that the guys are building replaces that filter to offer more pressure relief. like the picture above or similar layouts. I was refering to the cap that screws off in the evac kit (not in Freddies kit) Guys were talking about trying to find a 1 way valve to eliminate taking off the cap and draining.
 

bjniceguy, Went down and took a look at the sled and am wondering how mutch difference the evac system would make. My vent set up does`nt seep oil and no need to drain andseems to vent fine. I don`t drag race mutch so should I be concerned about that added venting?[/list][/list]
 
Some one else can chime in here, but I assumed that the problem came when you made long runs accross the lake and the pressure built up. More for normal guys than race sleds.

Last Season about 1/3rd of us ECP kit users were experiencing some oil out of the breather filter assy. I was not at all and when Freddie tested the EVAC kit that Dynarex made on the dyno it was said to give a little bit more power. So thats when I put the EVAC kit on my sled even though my sled didnt blow oil out the breather. The EVAC system makes perfect sense, instead of pushing out air through a breather filter, it sucks it out. Just make sure you check your drain for water after a ride. ----Cubby
 
Forget racing, the problem appeared when ever you wanted to go over 100.
After installing the kit I was very pleased, sounded great and felt more powerful with a cleaned up engine compartment. That was until I was with a buddy on Houghton Lake. We were crossing the lake which had several inches of fluff and came to the north shoreline that was all hardpack. We lined em up (his was a 98 machZ) and I jumped him big time :D Next thing I know he's flying by me. I looked down at the speedo and she was stuck on 103. My previous RX-1 on the same lake with the same conditions would crank my dream "O" meter to the mid 130's, seeing 137 once. After doing some talking to others with the kit I did some experimenting and did some runs in a light snow covered wheat field behind my house. There was a strip that had a huge oaktree in the tree line near the end at the point where I needed to shut down (or go thru the neighbors polebarn). With the filters I could hit the mid 90's by the tree. I immediatly took the sled in my shop and re-installed the stock airbox, cv springs and rejetted. I took the sled back out and was amazed to see that I was getting into the triple digits by the tree and could tell there was more there. Where in the same situation with the filters I felt I had hit a wall. I then came up with my variation of an evac kit and was able to do some more testing later in the week. Airbox on; same results, mid 100's by the tree. Re-jetted, installed the filters with cv springs with evac and hit the mid 100's again. I wish I could have had a timer to tell if I got there any quicker because it felt like I did but couldn't varify it. I then took the sled down a hard packed road and was able to get her into the mid 120's and she was still climbing when I ran out of room. The real test was on the last trip with my budy to northern Michigan. All tail riding so I couldn't compare top end runs until the end of the day. On the way back to his trailer we came upon this hardpacked road. He hit the throttle a split second before me, I pinned it and lept past him only to stay in front this time. The bottom line was I got my top end back and all I did was vent up to the filters which helped to suck out the pressure IMHO.

It was a combined effort from a few members here. I am one of the first to talk about the concept and Dynarex actually made one before me.
