Just wondering if anyone else is hitin there knee alot on the reverse lever when there up close and ridin hard, leanin and standin up and back down. My knee is raw after a hard night of turnin leanin and up and down riding?

No. I think you're the first to have this problem.

I bet you're coming off a REV. I ride my REV close up to the bars. However, I find it works better on the Nytro to push back a little futher to load the rear of the machine in the turns.

I have had this a little, but part way through the year I purchased a set of Skidoo bibs with padded knees (almost bought the yamaha version, but they didn't have it in my size) and havn't had a problem since. I too like to ride right up on the plastic, used to drive me nuts.

I also like to ride up close so I installed a set of knee pads from yamaha & although they could be a little bit thicker they do the job. The only minor beef is the manner in which they install - peel & stick to the machine then with velcro. The skidoo version actually has the plastic style rivets that are easy to install and they don't fall off.

I used to hit my knee all of the time, so I now ride with a set of Fox knee guards...works really good and also protects the knee from debris when following close to someone.

I have FXR pants with some need pading but not much so your thinking just get the pads that strap to your knees?

Bryan,
Try adding the Yamaha knee pads or look at some of the aftermarket or other manufacturers pieces. Even if Yamaha doesn't rivet them on, you could always put some rivets in. You can buy the black headed rivets that are for the bulkhead body panels on an Apex, or possibly the rivets used for the snow flap. Just put some small washers on the back side(s) so they don't come out.
If you don't want to put pads on the sled, try something you can wear under your snow pants.

I hit my knee also, but the problem was way worst on my Attak.....wish the reverse lever would be on the bars rather than there

buy a good set of knee/shin protectors like thor's mx protectors. wait till you slip off the boards and scuff your knee or shin on the running board edge when in deep snow. make your knee bruise look tame. ski

I did the same thing! Good quality. Protects your knees from bangs and keeps them warm also. Hmmm... maybe I should buy a set for my hands to keep them warm!

But seriously, they work but when you kneel down on your knees, they will put a wearing on your snow pants. Figure I'll be buying new bibs next season.

Not to sound like the L.B.S. solution, but I got a pair of Klim bibs this year and the knee pads work sweet. Plus they seem to trap heat coming from the vent as when I would kneel down to adjust the suspension I would get a burst of heat from them. If your in the market for some new pant's bibs. I would highly recomend them, if not I would get some knee pads and call it good. Also if you are going to use the Yamaha pads maybe installing snaps would work that way you could take them off if needed.

It's funny you mention this...Last year I never hit my knee once, or at least I never noticed it (I always wear my fox shin/knee pads). Yesterday I was admiring my new billet aluminum reverse lever and when riding I felt my knee whack the lever a few times. At first I was wondering if CR perhaps manufactured their lever a few millimeters longer than the stock Yamaha part, then I realized I had no knee pads on and I might have always banged it.

Long story short...Do what everyone else (including myself) does, buy and wear some knee/shin guards...Best $20 ever spent.
