Looking for opinions on these:

On my REV, these sorts of things were indespensible for comfort. I haven't done long days on an Attak yet....but since I loved 'em on the REV I'm considering these as part of my $400 in free accessories, but if they're completely unnecessary I may skip-em. I'm 6' 1", pretty long legged, aggressive rider mostly off trail but occasional long groomed runs. Thoughts/recommendations?

Same question on the $29.95 coolant heater...how many of you guys have this option and feel there's any need? I guess they generally start pretty good in the cold.

Thanks!

I have read about really aggresive riders wearing the paint on their tank. If you are like them I'd get em. I myself don't ride that close to the tank.

I have 1060 miles in my Apex ER and the paint on my tank is getting pretty scratched up. I am putting them on next year.

i ride agressive up tight to tank..i also wear leather suit so maybe its why mine seems fine..i also have many coats of wax on my sled,so mine is fine...

I personally think those pads look like crap..the DOO pads I had on my RT mach looked awesome and were NEEDED for about all riding....these are not IMO.

Just buy the tank bag and never worry about it plus have some extra storage. The bag I got has a felt backing so it wont scratch the paint. Looks great to.

Ditto on the tank bag. I even added extra felt to the back. 2500 mile and my paint is perfect. I also ride REVs and I always wear motocross knee and shin guards. Very, Very comfy and never any need for padding and the sled. (extra safety too)

if you are worried about the FINISH on your tank and not so much protection for your knees than you can use a product such as "tankslapper" which I put on my GSXR tank which is like 3M Clear bra. They have two types..the adhesive 3m clear bra and another that uses static cling that is easily removable. When installed correctly it is nearly invisible.

I have tank protectors from skinz that I got near the begining of the season. I believe that they make the ones Yamaha is selling. I've been very happy with them. They look good, are comfortable, and protect the tank from my knees.
