I must compliment the members of TY. I have been impressed with the level of intelligence and decorum that has been displayed since I have been visiting this site. That is not to say there are not a few, shall we say "instigators" on your forums, but the mods do an excellent job of keeping things under control.
Other sites of which I am a member of would do well to take a few lessons from you folks. All the more reason for me to make a jump to Yam right?
Keep up the good work!!

The mods and admins need to see this one for sure and they will because they are on top of it this much. They do a great job here for all of us and you can reward them by posting with common sense and dignity towards your fellow members and by becoming a VIP member to help run the site.

I am considering becoming a VIP member as I think the site is great.
As a prospective VIP member, is it out of place to ask why topics just disappear from here? There was a topic going where the handling of the 08 FX Nytro was being discussed with what I thought were good posts on both sides of the fence. I didn't notice any fuming or name calling or anything else. Now 8 pages of topic are just gone. Why is this?
I can understand Yamaha wanting their product releases not posted before they announce them, I can undertand threads that are flame wars being gorded. I can understand topics that have good information can sometimes be hit with useless posts that don't add anything but those posts could be deleted without the entire topic going.
What I can't understand is why an entire topic disappears. Is this the norm if someone doesn't agree with a discussion?
No disrespect intended whatsoever by this post is intended. This is the best modded and most civalized forum with this much traffic I have ever seen which is a testament to the owner and moderators.

I too was enjoying that thread. Apparently there was too much flaming going on though. When people don't treat each other with respect the mods will close a thread. I don't think this is a bad thing, the only problem is there was a lot of good information that we no longer have access to. I hope the people that were getting out of hand are proud of themselves.

Thank you very much for considering that. It really helps support the site. Considerable additional costs coming up soon, we are going to a new higher speed server.

No, far from the norm, you could maybe say that 30-50% of the threads get disagreed with.
One out of every maybe 200-400 threads get locked or deleted. We had a Yamaha employee in that thread, we dont want to see the screws put to him. There were some misunderstandings going on too. And a long time member commented that the thread should be canned, and members are often right. Every thread dies eventually anyway. 99.5% sink to the bottom, .05% get locked or deleted or dogpiled. At 8 pages that thread was about over anyway.

Thanks for the reply.
I agree, it is nice to have someone from Yamaha post on the site and I would hate to see the screws put to them as well. I was one of the first to comment after his post as I didn't understand what he was referencing.
It is too bad that thread got deleted though. I thought it had some good information. I can kind of agree that the subject has been hashed out a dozen times already but that thread had a lot of good in it. I think it is too bad it was deleted instead of just locked. But I guess it really doesn't matter in the end.
