Guys, everytime I drive by my local dealer I just have stop and sit on the Nytro MTX and make Vroom noises! I have been dying to ride one but haven't just yet. I'm waiting to see what changes come for 2009.
If 2009 brings a larger fuel tank, a Camo Extreme and some other psoitve changes it will be worth the wait but, if the changes we all are hoping for don't materialize then I'll be looking for the smokinst deal I can find on a Blue Nytro MTX with reverse (I've decided I won't have anther sled without reverse).
I have seen several dealer prices at $9,300 for blue Nytro MTXs with reverse and I'm guessing it won't be long before Yamaha ups the rebates and we see some at $8,999. Please let me know when that happens.

But.............. Is it an upgrade?
RX-1 142 hp and exactly one ton. Minus the stuff I have removed.
Nytro MTX 130 something HP and roughly 3/4 ton.
I won't be boosting my new or old sled anytime soon either because I have a 10 and 12 year old who want sleds (Phazer Mountain Lite).

My dealer (Waldoch Sports) is offering a blue one with reverse for $9100, but I know if I offered him that he would take it in a heartbeat! I could probably get the 40th that he has for that!

The dealer in woodinville, wa has a blue with reverse listed for 8999 plus 398 for freight and setup. That was without haggling. I almost bought it, but can't justify it this year. I'll wait till they get the bugs out.

Just my 2 cents,
First, the gas tank will remain exactly the same. Way too much involved in gas tak design and way too regulated by the EPA. If you haven't read about gas tanks on the Yamaha Canada Blog, you should. It is not as easy as it sounds to have a larger tank.
Second, if Yamaha has anything up their sleeve left, it will be in the Apex line. The last 6 years have been pretty amazing each spring with way cool advancements. Most think it is the Apex's turn for some new trick stuff.
You might see a different track, but if yamaha has 10,000 of the mavericks in a store house in Japan, I bet you will see the same FX Nytro with less than the 40th ann. color scheme. Just my 2 cents, but the 40th colors are the coolest, and when they are gone, they are gone.
And think of it this way, if 2009 doesn't bring any changes, you may have wished you too one of these resaonable dealer offers..........

i think the nytro is going to really take off in sales for the 2009 modle so if you can buy one for a reasonable price and you want one id get it now

call around, I bought a nytro blue non reverse for 8199.00 in denver the day after xmas. there are some deales out there.

I've noticed the buy it now prices are slowly dropping on EBAY for new Nytro MTX's. Too bad they're all back East! I also got the same deal as robertyoke in Denver. I got the last one they had on Dec. 29th

Boys, if you can get a blue Nytro w/ rev for under $9000 feel good because you bent your dealer over. Thats below cost even w/ rebates from Yamaha. Unless they have a set up tech they pay $5.00 an hour. Check your torqe specs and grease everything yourself before you ride! They have to cut back somewhere to sell that cheap or they wont be in business long.
