Turns out that me and a couple of friends are going in on some propoerty in the UP plans are to go longer on the RX-1 to get more serious off trail performance

Wanted to know if anyone has gone 136 or 144 on the MonoRA with any Success. I see Hartman has a 121-144 Relocation kit. Anyone used it or rail extensions?

If it is outrageous, I will just purcahse a Expert X 136 and sell the Mono.

You MUST NOT relocate. If you do, the suspension compression will cause the track to tension, which will result in the worst suspension performance you've ever experienced. Extension is OK. For best results, the upper big wheels must be located backwards equal in distance to the length of the rail extensions. This may require modification to the rear-main arm for shaft clearance. As greenmachine says, look at the attak, compare it to the rx1/apex 121" and see how they differ. Its ok to go to 136, 144 would be pushing it probably too far. Deep snow performance will be better, but not by much since you will still have the really nasty approach angle. I would recommend expertx144.

I would like to have everything done by the end of summer. AndI am sure part availability for the rails would not be till November at the earliest.

I will probably go with an extension kit and beef up the connection myself. But not many reports on anyone doing this.

Plans are around Munising. About half a mile of trail 422 (I think) closing on May 20th.

the 05 will need some serious tranformation to get it to be a 136....the geometry is not the same as an Attak.

I really think you are asking for problems trying to extend the 05 suspension. My suggestion would be to sell the 05 and replace it with a 136" from 06 or an aftermarket suspension. I have a 136" M10 on mine and did it for better ride not floatation.

Did you have problems with your 05 in the deep, if so do you have the stock skis?

Im glad MrSled and green posted up on this. In every conversation about this I have heard that you cant just put extensions on the 121 mono, it just wont work.
You might devote some phone time talking to Mountain Performance and Hartman and see if they are coming up with anything.

I had thought of that earlier. Just the pics in the '06 lineup you can see the some of the difference in the suspension.

You cant just extend the rails like you can on most other sleds.
If you do, it will throw off the coupling of the suspension. Apparently the Monoshock RA is really sensitive and any mods (no mater how minor) will really mess it up.

136" will be fine for you.

Plans are to sell the Mono.

I have had an expert in the past, and loved it. Only reason I would go 144 is that Boivin does not make a 1 piece rail 136 suspension. Have to use extensions. If I am dumping cash on the skid, then buying more parts, it actually costs MORE than a 144 skid.

I think the Mono RA could be done, just that since it is a bastart design (allready changed for 06) that nobody wants to pursue it. The issues could be dealt with by using shcok valving and such, but the aftermarket probably will not pursue it for such a limited customer base.

Besides, I believe the Expert is much more durable, and I really do not think I will miss the remote that much. If I remember right, once the Expert is set, you pretty much leave it alone.
