Wondering which suspension is preferred the CK or the single shot- I have put the heavy spring on my mono 136" shock in the past- what do you recommend? Thanks-

the single shot is basically a larger mono. i would not touch a single shot skid apex unless the up grade to the 2018 spec shock or one of the aftermarket coil over has been installed on a 2016/2017. still fighting to get my 16 to transfer how i like it to and i have the up graded shock.
i prefer my 11 with the ck skid over the single shot. i got it set really sweet without doing the conversion from the guy in quebec. how they come factory is sprung fairly stiff as i only ever got it to flex once on a g out where i bottomed the rest of the sled with the stock springs. i ended up with a lighter set on it and it rides so good now that my gf has taken it over and i had to buy myself a new sled. i weigh in at 250lb area without gear and the 11 always had a 1.5 gallon klopin can full of gas on the back.

I agree with maim make sure the somgleshot skid (2016-2018) has the updated Fox shock. The shock comes straight from yamaha. At that point it comes down to color preference. I prefer the 2016 and you save about 10 pounds of weight in the rear skid as compared to the 2015.

I bought the Hygear coilover shock for my XTX single shot. they set me up with the right spring by asking weight, etc. Great company and shock. Best out there.

16 is not?15 - All Japan engine.
I know Cameron likes how his 11 rides over his 16 as far as transfer, I rode both and on a whopped trail that day IMHO his 16 rode absolutely awesome.
Just put the Star kit on my XTX, waiting for my first ride to try it out. I will say after looking at the XTX skids on the 16 to 18, it is setup just like the Star kit using a hinge in the rear (uncoupled) in place of the solid (coupled) of the 11 to 15.

I don't think so. I think the 16's had some of their engine parts built by Subaru after the weather disaster in Japan.16 is not?

Someone here posted a pic of their 16 engine with a broken rod and I saw one with my own eyes on a completely stock Apex with 5000kms.

I recall seeing something on the 16 Viper 3 holers dropping rods, guess missed any talk on the Ape motor.I don't think so. I think the 16's had some of their engine parts built by Subaru after the weather disaster in Japan.

I think Yamaha did a good job keeping it quiet.I recall seeing something on the 16 Viper 3 holers dropping rods, guess missed any talk on the Ape motor.

were there any issues with 17/18 Ape motors? Was hoping to find an 18 in moth balls someday. There are never any 18s for sale, will be patient and hopefully find one one day.
