Paradise is nothing but snowmobiles. The Best Western there is awesome!! They are only about 15 miles from teq. falls, and it generally has some of the best snow around.
Not much of a night life though...you can always head across the street to the Yukon for a beer.

I couldn't believe how little traffic there was around Paradise last year. I went through there 3 times last year and everytime there was little to no traffic and the trails were groomed to perfection. The guy at the Red Flannel told me it was basically like that all season long......Raco, Strongs, Hulbert, and Brimley? There's alot of good riding and places to stop between the Soo and Paradise.
As far as maps you can try this. I don't know if the state of Michigan has updated this but you can get some map info here. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-15 ... --,00.html

Yup, that's our home base, can't beat the hospitality and conditions. I've always been able to ride up there. It's our little secret, Shhhh, don't tell anyone.

For a nice 2-3 day run: You may want to start in Paradise. You can park in the state parking lot about 1/2 mile west of Paradise. Then run to Marquette via Gwinn. Avoid the trail that goes along the lake between Munising and Marquette, unless there is a lot of fresh snow. The wind blows the snow off the portions of the trail along the lake. Exposed Railroad Cinders are a bugger to ride on. You can stay at the Holiday Inn in Marquette. They are at the end of the trail and usually have sledder's special packages. Then, on day two run to L’anse via Big Bay. You can drive up to the Hilltop Hotel. Then on day three, you can drop down to Trail 8 and make the long run back to Paradise. On day three you are starting early, ending late and running hard all day. If there is a lot of fresh snow, you can make some really good time on the trail along the lake between Marquette to Munising trail. But only if the snow is fresh and wind speed is low.
If you want to take it a bit easier, on day two go to Big Bay, Champion, Republic Gwinn and back up to Marquette. Then take Trail 8 via Gwinn back to Paradise on day three. The day two you takes you up into the mountains on some of the best groomed trails in the U.P.
By the way, a few weeks ago, the gas station at Shingleton was closed again. Nothing worse than coming in on vapors and having to go on through to Munising. Gas up at Seney.

Yes, the Yukon bar is directly across the street. It isn't the prettiest looking place, but they do have good food and the beer (From what I hear) is reasonable.
Plus the Best Western has a nice hot tub and pool, and free breakfast bar.

OK, so here is what happened...I am carrying my huge FOX bag over my shoulder through the lobby...I make a quick turn and BAM...huge container of Fruit Loops all over the floor.

 So...LJ....does the Yukon have beer?

Now that's funny....When I see that container there I will have a little chuckle ...Looks like we are booking a room for Janurary Sat. 10 for one night anyways and we will just ride around Paradise ...Quick one night trip ....Should be fun .....Thank you very much for all the info ... Maybe I'll see a few of you guys there ...
