Gentlemen I'm looking for your thoughts on the 150efi. I'm looking at the Apex er, and seeing how its in its first year of production am looking for input on what you think of this engine. I absolutely love my wifes efi on her 2000 Pantera. I know its a lousy comparison but the confidence I have that sled is awesome. It dosen't matter what the tempeature is or how long its sit idle. Two to three pulls and it starts every time. Is the 150 efi a motor they've had in their cycle lineup and modified? Will the gas mileage increase with this motor? Any info would be great. Thanks!grader

the r1 motorcycle is fi. and makes more hp. yamaha has been building high performance 4 strokes for over 30 years, so i wouldent be concerned with reliability. i am quite sure that mpg will be better, and think the 8 hp increase will probably feel like 20 with the increased torque. the internal gear reduction change, cams, and fi. will make these sleds haul a$$.

As of yesterday, the new fuel injection gives you more power, but not much, if anything better, as far as fuel milage. This was from Greg from Yamaha yesterday. If it was for me, I would take the power, and keep the same fuel milage. These sleds rip!!!!

2.2 lbs of rotating mass removed from the crank and they dropped a tooth on the gear reduction will make this motor come alive compared to the carbed engine

Thanks for the reply's. Going with the 150efi seems to be the trick for me. As I said I think the efi is the way to go because I like not having to worry about carb cleaning and such. I think with yamahas quality they will get it right from the start. Even though you've stated its a muscle sled it should be real trail freindly machine at trail speeds.
As I watched for posts for problems with the Genesis 120 all season, I never saw any. Watching posts from other manf. there was all kinds. Knowing this with purchasing a make you haven't owned before gives you some confidence in your purchase.
