have a 2009 nytro xtx with upgraded float x shocks. have to change the front sub frame due to a tree jumping out in front oF me late last winter. thinking of removing my front sway bar for better handling in corners.

WOULD LOVE SOME INPUT . TIME TO DO IT WHENS THE FRAME IS OFF.

PROS AND CONS ?

Well its not going to give you better handling in the corners, it will give you better bump control as it will allow each front ski work independently of each other. It should be easier to carve with it out too. Everything I have ever read has seemed to say its better with it in, at least for trail riding. I thought about removing it as well but I ended up leaving it in.

I see on here some guys have removed them and upped the fox float air pressure. from what I have heard about doing this, you really have to use ALOT of body english. I think this is a common thing for SnoXr's. The Polaris IQ 600RR ( trail version oif sno X sled ) does not come with a sway bar, but suspension calibrations are supposed to be very stiff...guess that's to compensate somehow?

If your looking to rip the trail like its on rails, leave it in. The sway bar controls or helps eliminate chasis roll. If you pull it off and up the air pressure, all your going to get is a stiff ride thatll take "big bumps" or jumps alot better. Now if you are looking for off trail/ uneven terrain I would pull it and enjoy how much better it rolls, leans, and uses each shock INDEPENDANTLY.

I agree with these guys; if you want to corner better you want a sway bar. By removing it you take away the link between the two sides of the suspension so they are free to act independently of each other. The benefit is seen off trail not on.

I'm sway-bar-less since about 07! ;)!

Is it possbile to get any sort of quick disconnect system? Something where you have it connected on the trail and then when you want to go play you can disconnect.

I wanted to do that as well, even looked into mass producing a kit, the problem is when the SB is disconected its a big steel rod looking to catch something and stop you dead in your tracks. If you look at Ski-Doo's and AC system it does not protrude out like the Nytro, its built into the frame.

I knew that some sleds had it , I was not sure if there was anything for us Yamaha guys. Sounds like it could be a nice little project for OFT!!!! Are you listening guys?

Waking this old thread up, wondering if anyone succeeded in mounting/making some kind of quick-disconnects?

If one link was to be poped off, could the other side (still connected) make the sway bar hit the a-arm on the poped off side?

Rip it out. You can come off bumps alot straighter with it out then in. Does roll a bit in corners but if you boost up the air pressure its not that bad. Well worth it off trail.

Thought about it, and decided that I'll leave it in for the coming season

I injured a wrist in a MX crash last year, and a stiff front suspension is a no go since the wrist swells up from hits, and it's bad enough as it is already :p

Mostly looking for an easy way to make it more off trail capable when i need it, whilst still having the front end kinda soft for on trail riding.

what about something like jks has for jeeps where it locks up/out of the way?

A problem is that the sway bar is protrudes too far in front of the back of the lower a-arms, if it wouldn't have been so pointy you might have been able to flip it up, and lock it away.

I tested my XTX with the Sway Bar Disconected last year with great results. First let me point out that I have fox float2's and I did increase the air preassure to 110 psi before I rode it, I also have the JRE Tail king Spindle kit.

To disconnect the bar I removed the bolt that connects the sway bar link to the A arm and wire tied the link back against the sway bar, now the bar is disconnected.

I was impressed with a smoother ride with the bar disconncted, I also had better turn in and less understeer on corner entry. I am mostly a trail rider and I like to go fast and stay in control, this mod surprized me because I thought it would make the sled unstable at speed, espiecially in the bumps, but it only made it better everywhere.

Hope this helps

And the sway bar didn't rub against the a-arm on the disconnected side?
If so, goodie :D just what I wanted to hear :)
