looking for opinions and advice

SFC Jeff, nothing I can say will ease the pain. Just be thankful that nobody was hurt (assumption on my part) and you walked away from it. Sleds can be replaced, people (as you may already have experienced in the service) cannot.

Travis (barnofparts) should comment shortly on the rest. I think you can get red arms. I wish we were closer....I'd be honored to make the repairs for you. Just make sure the bulkhead isn't cracked in other places.

Awesome gesture right there, good on you! ;)!

Sorry to hear about this Jeff. Travis is a good guy and will help anyway he can, like he mentioned. I installed one of his saver kits and it was easy to do, and it is comforting knowing it is there as well.

Hoping everything works out for you, and even if it is written off, you can get back into sledding with minimal cost to you.

Good luck, and thanks for all that you do!

yes there is some great people on here and out there. I am very appreciative. now I want to see insurance outcome . then will be able to make some more informed decisions .

Just my personal opinion so please don't take this the wrong way. If the insurance company wants to write it off and they are willing to give you good/decent money for it and getting into a newer, 2008 and up, Vector looks/is affordable to you, I say don't argue with them if they want to?

The reason I say this is, and no offence to no one, is the fact the 2008 and up Vectors are a more rider forward sled than your current one and in 2008 they were built using the Delta-2 chassis. I have no idea your size or riding style, but I pretty sure you will enjoy it, ride, handling, suspension etc, more than your current Vector?

well I am 200 lbs never leave trail and not rough on my stuff. That's why im disappointed . if that comes down to it I may just do that though irv, bur hopefully not. I am basically a thousand to fifteen hundred mile a year guy on disability for cancer. at this point I don't want to incur anymore debt. this was a great sled for my purpose.

Very sorry to hear that, Jeff. I understand you not wanting to get into anymore debt.

All the best, hope everything works out for you!;)!

Looks like I may have this worked out with insurance. We are going to use the bulkhead repair kit from barnofparts along with some other used parts. quote with all new was 3000. Insurance was going to total for that price but agreed to use some used parts. works for me.I didn't want it totaled and there are very few of these 2006 vectors with 400o miles for this price. I am only out to bring sled back to purchased condition not to make anything extra. I just want sled running and handling correctly. thank you all for your support and to travis at barnofparts. And to matt at bignells Yamaha in westfield wi.

OUTSTANDING! So happy to hear it got worked out!

Our repair kit saves a ton of time, so a shop greedy for business would rather install a new bulkhead as they get more billable labor. A shop that truly cares about the best interests of their customers should be willing to install our kit.

In this case, its a no-brainer! The repair value of tearing it down and a new bulkhead would most likely exceed the value of the sled, at least to the 75% insurance totaled point. So the dealer's choice is either zero income, or do the repair.

*EDIT Nevermind, missed the post where the OP said exactly that happened! **

Jeff - any idea as to when your sled will be back on the trails?

parts being shipped today . probably middle next week if all goes well
