I'm doing some research on the GT's vs the RTX. Looks like the GT may have a softer ride, with electronic adjustable shock. RTX sounds like it may be a stiffer ride? And a different spring set-up?
Can I get some opinions of the two sleds. Similiar miles, similiar asking prices. This is going to be my #2 sled to my 09 Z1 Turbo Sno-pro. I like the idea of the softer suspension. However i like the color scheme better on the RTX. So i'm torn. Thanks.

I have a 2010 Apex LTX GT ( 136 in long track) and would say that the GT version does have a nice ride and is nice having the on the fly adjuster at your finger tip. I ride mostly trails and Lake and Logging roads in Maine. I have ridden an RTX and the ride was somewhat stiffer but the sled is more of a Hot rod younger guy sled. If you are aggressive, on the throttle and looking for the bumps I would choose the RTX. I ride hard and fast,
but don't look for bumps. Honestly I don't adjust the shock too much. I have it set to 75% stiff and just leave it.
Hope this helps

They both have about the same for rear skid too softer for most. But the RTX has the nicer Fox floats upfront. For me it was hard to till any difference between the to.

I heard that the manual clicker to adjust suspension on the RTX in the extreme cold breaks easy. I was looking at a used RTX and a GT at the same time and that's what made me buy the GT. Plus I like blue
I have no real experience with it just what I heard.

Welcome to the site... hope guys go easy on you with the alias you chose!
I believe in 06 both sleds used the Mono skid so the "big bump" capabilities of the rear skid are not that great on the RTX compared to 2007+ model years. Springs, skid beef-up and shock valving can bring the mono head and shoulders above the performance of stock setups. There are also upgrades for the front shocks if you so desire... (either way clickers or floats)
I had an 07 GT (Attak) and the kit offered by a site sponsor (Hygear) provided a vast array of adjustability to the GT. I improved both front and rear shocks/springs.

i have a 2006 rtx
RTX is supposed to be rough trail
GT is supposed to be groomed trail.
My RTX its a great sled but by no means is it a true rough trail sled.
only real difference between rtx and gt is shocks
and how they adjust.
GT is ohlins adjust on the fly with handlebar controls. a few people claim the ohlins rebuilt with pds is unbelievable but very few people have done this and it seems rather expensive.
RTX is adjusted by a knob on the tunnel.
both systems are kinda flawed and the control wires can break easy.
on my sled i set the rear shock it and forget it but everyone is different, right.
in my opinion
the motor on these sleds is simply fantastic.
there is no better motor in a sled today.
the rear suspension is the sleds real weak point
buy either and you will be happy.
but be prepared to spend a buck or 2 revalving/new spring for the rear shock if the previous owner hasn't done it already

I might sell you my black 06 gt this spring if you want to wait that long. Im hoping to upgrade to a 2011 by next season. I have no complaints with my gt. rides really good. Always fires right up. Ive not ridden an rtx so i cant compare the two suspensions. Im a groomed to semi groomed michigan trail rider.

I've got my eye on a 06 GT with 3,700 miles. It turns out that the shocks have not been rebuilt yet, nor has the exhaust gaskets been replaced.
If i was to hire out the gaskets, what kind of cost am i looking at to have that job done? Also, If i go look at this sled, what are the signs that the gaskets are bad? Thanks.

At that mileage I would replace them for piece of mind if they haven't been already. Mine showed no signs of being bad with the same mileage but I checked them while I was doing a seat mod and found out one was leaking (black soot on the heat shield). Backfiring and running rough is another sign of bad gaskets. It's not a bad job if you do it yourself, you might have to deal with a seized screw here and there but there's lots of help available here. I've heard of one guy spending over $400 to get it done but it shouldn't be that high. It's a couple of hours if you know what you are doing and less than $100 for parts.

Sounds like the sled i'm looking at has the stock skis with just basic single runner with 6" carbide. My Z1 Turbo took a set of 6" Woody's Slim Jim Doolies before I could get that to stop darting. How's this GT going to ride with the stockers and 6" single runners?

Re: 06 GT
I put the 6" Woodys Doolies on mine and it was like night and day. Lots of other options out there too if you do a search.
