I'm looking for some advice, or experience from anyone who switched from Cat. Right now I ride a 05 F7 which has been great and has over 7000 miles on it. Honestly, I'm just not that impressed with the new F series like my buddy rides. Mostly do trail riding in NY, but I need to have a sled that can handle just about anything thrown at it. We like to ride 150-250 mile loops, so trail conditions can vary from groomed like cream cheese to never touched by a groomer.
At first I was looking at the Apex, but now I'm thinking a Nytro would be better for my style. I enjoy having a sled that is good through the corners, hard out of the hole and takes care of the bumps. Don't really care about getting to the other end of a lake first. I heard from a couple people these things ride twitchy, but it sounds like there is an easy cure for taking care of the handling problems.
Like I said, I'm just looking for some comments or real world experience from any old Firecat fans. Thanks.

I came over from an 05 F7 and very happy after I made all the adjustments. The power is awesome. I ride with a few that have the apex and have no problem staying with them. I'd say go w/ the RTX. The suspension is great IMO. The best part from coming over from the firecat is NO OIL!!! Everybody on TY will help with any questions.
Yea come on over buddy you will love it!! Just put 5.7 skis and shimmed mine sled ROCKS now! A buddy has a 05 F7 one ride and he is getting a Nytro RTX too, he LOVES IT!!

I'd wait till the dealers get 09 demos in before making a decision. Cat's new Jag looks pretty slick, but who knows what Yamaha has been up to.

Yep, I crossed over this winter from a 05 F7 sno pro. I too liked this sled, but disappointed with quaility and fuel useage. From what I read, it sounds like you ride Tug Hill like me. I'm here to tell ya, this new Nytro was made for Tug Hill. Handles everything it throws at it. You won't be disappointed......trust me.
Oh, and besides not using anymore 2 stroke oil, the 16 mpg is a nice treat.

I ended up with an 08 APEX RTX. After test riding a 08 Nytro RTX, I realized it just isn't what I was really looking for.
The Nytro is a great sled, and I would not mind having one to bomb around on and to play with on local trails and lakes. I just don't know if I could be comfortable on the Nytro all day putting on the miles. It seems like you really have to be on top of this sled and continuously pay attention to your ride. I understand why there is so much discussion about the set up on these forums.
I'm going to test ride a 09 Nytro next season just to make sure I really don't want one. I haven't convinced myself that I don't. The sled is exciting and definitely would be great to own but right now I feel the Apex is just better suited for what I'm looking for. Oh well, maybe I'll just have to find a way to add one more sled to the stable next year.
