Anyone know what my options are for a lost key? Is there another way to start my 03 rx1? Do I need a new ignition?[/quote]

Toggle switch and a push button maybe??
Then it would obviously be smokin easy to steal, unless you kept the stock key in place, and hid the switch and button somewhere.
I have switches with key if you need one, 20 shipped, in the mean time, they are not like the old sleds, you can't unplug the switch and just start it.
So, remove the switch, you will see where you can pry the cover off, then remove the lock cylinder, reinstall the cover with all the other parts, then bolt back in. use a screwdriver till you find your key or get another switch. might take you 5 minutes.
nice to know your sled is 5min away from being stolen, quicker if someone brings their own switch, under 30 seconds.
The toggle switch hiden somewhere might be a great idea for those overnight stays.

Or you could just swap out the ignition fuse with a dead one. It'll take a thief a lot more than 5 minutes to get that one through his head. Remember that sled thieves aren't the most intelligent type.

You did write down your key number in your owners manual....right???
Then you should be able to order a new one through your dealer.
If you didn't write it down.....see if the dealer can trace it through the serial number.

It is a good idea not to lose the spare, keep in a safe place. If you lose one, get a copy of the spare (and use the copy). If you lose them frequently, remember to only copy from the original, otherwise the quality of the copy will degrade.
any locksmith should be able to make you a key.

Ignition switch and key isn't a lot of money and they are very easy to install. Order one up and be done with it. No sense jerry-rigging it to give some scumbag a chance at clipping your ride.
