too rich you could lean down the cylinders in the program.

I always thought backfiring meant it was a little lean? Would I have to do that with a special programmer im guessing. It was so loud it scared my friend..ha..he claims a flame shot out(at night)? My 250F mx bike has shot flames out before.

I got the same problem. It rarely backfires, but when it does its loud, just like u said but noones been behind me to see flames, if any. I was thinking maby when i put 87 oct. it made it run richer causing the backfire? didnt seem to happen when I was running 91 oct.
I wonder if it's a result of the cold start update? Don't they richen it up? A good cure would be to just add a couple D&D bullseyes in airbox lid to give it some cold air and more power!

This is true to dirtbikes so you would turn fuel svrew out 1/4 turn but it sounds like your sled is loading up with fuel.

yeah i think your right..it seems like its when i ride wide open..and go down a slight hill or something when the engine snaps from wide open to backing way off..it will do it at will if you know how to do it just right..ha

stop and think for a minute. if the back fire is coming out the tail pipe then that would be unburned fuel entering the exhaust system and then igniting. any codes?

Well obviously its coming out the exhaust...i understand all that..but no its not giving any codes and running great.

I was out riding the other day, for the first time since i had my cold start update installed. Was the first time i ever had any backfire problems at all. So I'm guessing it loaded up a because of the update. I think I'm gonna put on the air box pods.

Well I did do the airbox mod..there are 2 nice holes i made in the panel with very fine mesh screen to keep debris out..definatly helped with response and sounds throaty..but mine has backfired since new..it was rare when new but now is happening about once a ride? No concern then?

I would check the header pipe for lose clamps right away that would make it pop, mine where lose from brand new, you'll have to take the tank off.
